Ok, so i am collecting my Z4M Coupe this Saturday and I have asked them to do 2 things.

1. Make it so the doors lock when i drive off
2. Dip the passenger side mirror when i put the car in reverse

Are there any other things like this i should ask for?

Don't ask them for 2. - you can't do it unfortunately.

Really, that's a great shame as i really wanted that. Oh well, i will let them try just so they learn for themselves. It is very strange that they dont let you do it.

Yep bit unusual really, don't think Audi will do it either, just Merc? I used to have a scan of the list of things they can change for you, but I can't find it now, I'll keep looking.

Well i used to drive a 330ci and that did it as does the new 5 series.

Thanks for looking for the list, it would be great to see.

Right, never realised, just the Z4 that's behind the times then.

I still can't find the bloody list - maybe on my work laptop, will look tomorrow unless someone else can find it in the meantime.

Ok, what do the daytime running lights do and why would i want them?

So the car does not open the passenger dor when you unlock it, even if you press the button twice?

Check to make sure your requests have been attended to, and if they forgot, get them to do it before you finish the final paperwork.

Congrats in advance

DRLs just keep your lights running all the time (at a low intensity). It's supposed to be safer and it's the law where I live.

You do have to press the button twice to open both doors. I just prefer to have them lock and unlock with a single push. It's up to you of course.

Thanks for the info, i quite like having only 1 door open as i live in a big city. Always good to know my options though.

You mean in a big city, if you unlock both doors at once, then some street bum or thief will suddenly run over, open your passenger door and jump in?

I also don't have the need to have both my doors unlock simultaneously. I'm the only one that rides in it, for the most part. Geez, how lazy is that not to want to push your button twice?

It's all about efficiency, baby. If my wife is with me, then I would have to press the button twice, and then a third time and hold it down to get the top to come down. This way, I only have to press it twice in total.

Oh yeah!

I remember when I first got my car and was all excited about these options. There was a thread on Z4UM that had the entire list. The only one I remember is the daytime running lights. Now that I've driven the car as much as I have it doesn't even matter anymore. This car is so incredible that I don't even notice the little things. But then again, maybe it is the little things that make me love this car so much... hmmmm, better ponder that a while.

In the meantime, churchwa, I feel your excitement. You are so gonna love that car! If there is an option that you want programmed, be sure to give the stealer heck (don't know yet if you take kindly to the other word) until he/she takes care of it for you. Yes, it's OK to be that guy - we all were and are. Get your money's worth and don't let the stealer be a lazy punk.

Let us know how it goes and what options you find are available for your car, I'm interested to know what all is available for the new models.

Other BMW models have the passenger side mirror dip option, wonder why the Zed doesn't? Maybe they have added that option! Let us know if you find out.

Um... yeah :punish:
America's not that safe, y'know. Where do you think you live... Canada?

Is this the list folks are looking for?

This image was shamelessly copied from the FAQ of another forum with a Z series page. There are items on this list that my dealer was unable to lookup in his own info so I am not sure how old this list is and which items may no longer be available.
