As i say, google the word BUSH - you clearly dont know what your talking about, and as usual 'have to be right' and no one else has a valid point other than you.
No, you haven't got the foggiest idea how the z4 control arm is made.
You say:

Surely you cant argue that all three of the things that the arrows point to in my picture are 'cushions made of rubber' they all have 'rubber BUSHES' on the 3 points.
And this simply isn't true.
The 2 hinge points that the green arrows highlite are ball joints.
There isn't a single piece of rubber that provides the dampening in there.
IF you actually had hands on experience with replacing/dismanteling these bushings and control arms you would have known.
Apparantly you don't know how a ball joint is constructed.

OK you crack on, I can change front control arms in my sleep - and have done for other members, seems all you do for other members is make condescending and partronising posts - if that floats your boat then i feel for you.

OMG......
Thats the DUST COVER!!!!!!

43 e46 based cars and still doesnt know the basics of e46 front control arm design.....

Seeing a rubber dust cover and automatically thinking that that takes care of the dampening.....geezzz... where to start on thàt

its called a bush on euro car parts - they sell the one at the forward side and its called a BUSH.

I don't believe you.
If you had, you would have felt that on those 2 points highlighted by the green arrows, a ball joint would sit in there.
Either that or you dont know what a ball joint is.

Its a ball joint
You have a link to that part?

I think youve got lost in a world of petiness. the fact is that the Powerflex ones feel shite compared to an otherwise 'non polyurethene' car if your going to replace the P bushes with powerflex - then you need to do the ARB , Differential , RTAB etc etc.

I think you're alone in that opinion.

I refer you to the first reply to this thread...

He says it gives you more NVH.
In my book that doesnt mean a shitty drive.
It gives way better handling over OEM, and the added NVH is hardly noticeable. Its comparable with a fresh bushing only that it keeps that freshness as normal rubber degrades over time and with the miles adding up. Poly doesnt have that problem
And accelerated wear on the ball joints is not an issue. I'm pretty sure I have more miles under my ass with a powerflex bushing on that spot that you or the first replyer and I havent experienced accelerated wear.

And do you have that link to eurocarparts with the supposed 'bushing'?

he also says stick with meyle hd or OEM

your doing something with your ass, mainly talking through it

So?
Maybe he doesnt like the extra performance. Maybe he has the driving style of a granny...
If you have, powerflex products arent for you. They're ment for people who attain a sporty driving style.

PMSL - so your saying that people who go to the ring etc who drive it like they stole it are in the wrong for choosing meyle bushings over Powerflex?

And you're trying desperately to hide your lack of knowledge, thinking that a dust cover on a ball joint is a rubber bushing (lol), by making non related personal insults.
way to go, but the fact remains, that after having owned 43 e46 based cars you still dont know how car components work or are constructed and how they are called. Thats pretty pathetic, especially because you repeat to yell out your mistakes multiple times in this topic, even after people have said how things are really constructed in the control arm.

Please educate yourself, or try to get some hands on experience in tinkering with cars before you blab your nonsense.
The difference between a bushing and a ball joint is very very basic and common car tech knowledge, so start at the basics in your case.

Or are you just trying to force your opinion and anyone who begs to differ is incorrect? regardless of front suspension arm construction or not? Every post you make on this forum contains some sort of snide / sarcastic/ patronising reply i assume you have some sort of confidence issue?- I have no axe to grind and rarely post these days, only to update my progress thread.

Hands on experience in tinkering ? I refer you to any of my previous 10 build threads - OK ive not quite fitted a supercharger but i've certainly tinkered!

Its not an opinion but a fact that the 2 front hinge points on the control arm are ball joints.

And if you still dont get that you've clearly not tinkered enough.
Just thinking that the dust covers on those ball joints are the rubber bushings.....geeeeez.....

Your swerving the point yet again - Powerflex is a preference which is what i've been saying all along. You need to calm down

No I'm not swerving. That the added performance of a powerflex bushing is a preference is what I've said all along. If you have a granny's driving style, its not for you.
What I contradict is that fitting powerflex bushings on the front control arm would result in some kind of accelerated wear on the arms.

And I'm talking about the fact that you state that the front 2 hinge points on the control arm are bushings while they're not, and that you're under the impression of that the dust covers on those ball joints are the rubber bushings in a control arm. Thats pretty bad advice....

And that 1 of them is replacable on the OEM arm? I dont think so? You still havent given that link. I cant find it on eurocarparts......
So is that another one of your mistakes or what?

The only control arm that has replacable joints afaik is a special control arm from meyle, for which they sell seperate joints that you can press in.

So I take it that I'm not getting that link from eurocarparts that refers to that front replaceable joint?
