Power fold mirrors

Hi everyone,
Is it possible to retrofit fit power fold mirrors to a 2010 e89 35i, it has the electric seats and dipping mirror which I believe make it easier but would they need coding ? and if so what’s the best way ? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

there’s a few threads on here about this... here’s one https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=107929&p=1618301#p1618301

Ok thanks for that I’ll start getting the bits together, any recommendations on where to get the coding program ?
Yes, I can send you all the relevant links for the coding program (BMW Tools). Give me a shout when you get it all together.
You'll need to check what plug you currently have on the loom on the mirror as there are 3 & 5 pin versions. If you get a mirror that has 5 and you only gave 3 currently then you'll be needing a 5 pin plug and will be doing extra wiring.
But it's all possible, just needs some thinking.

I see, so best to take a look and see if I have 3 or 5 pins and then make sure I get the same, the ones I’ve seen are 3 pin so if I have 3 pins I’m saving myself future wiring problems. I don’t want to start adapting the wiring if I can help it, I was under the impression they were plug and play as it were so long as I had the memory seats and dipping mirror which I have. I’ll take a look when I get chance. Thanks

Yes if you have 3 pins then as you say buy them with 3 pins.
I'm not 100% sure the difference between the 3 and 5 pins but I suspect the extra 2 are for the Auto Dipping versions.
Having just checked the codes for you....

Your current codes will be;
Interior Auto Dipping Mirror - $431A
Seat Electric with Memory - $459A

For a folding exterior mirror you'd need to code $313A
And if you had a Auto Dipping exterior mirror as well that code would be $430A

So the chances are that these codes won't already be there as the equipment isn't fitted yet (they'd only code for what was fitted at the factory).

I already have folding mirrors, is it possible to programme them to close when you lock the doors
It can be done with "Carly for BMW", you just need to find a friendly member that has it and is prepared to help out!!

Ok I’ve had a look at the drivers side mirror and whilst there are five wires going to the plug there are only three pins in the mirror so I’m not sure wether I need 3 or 5 pin mirrors although all the ones I can find for sale are three pins, I’ve also looked on realoem but that doesn’t really much either, any further ideas guys ?

As you have 5 wires going to the plug then you could fit 5 pin mirrors.
Not all sellers know the difference so sometimes you need to ask them.
