Power-fold mirrors - pre-wired on February 2004 E85?

Oh man, I wish my rear view was auto dim -- that would be sooooo helpful.

So even if I do find an auto dim rear view and driver side, I wouldn't be able to use them b/c I don't have the wiring in there?

The chassis of the car will have all the wiring for dimming mirrors all round. The actual door should have the wiring but its not guaranteed. The door mirror unit will not have the wiring.

Oh wow, even the rear view mirror? So I should try to search for donor parts/ebay a mirror? Is there a guide on the installation?

Getting You Tubing definitely stuff on there it’s not as hard as it looks just knowing the order and being a bit careful worst you can do is break a clip really so buy a cheap bag of spare clips before you start

I’ve managed to pick up a pair of OEM 9-wire power-fold mirrors, so I’m getting everything together before fitting them.

My car is an early E85, February 2004 build.

Before I start stripping the door cards, is there anything you’d recommend having ready apart from a few spare door clips? I also bought the correct window switch.

Do I need to source the separate power-fold mirror module, or is it controlled by the GM5 on my era build.

So far I’ve been quite lucky with factory wiring. The other day I noticed my car already has the loom in place for the parking sensors too

Thx 😊

Keep your old window switch as a spare. They are all the same, just need the correct trim cover and the button pushing in to the slot that is already there.

Rear view mirror was just a quick swap on my '03 E85 car. No coding/wiring needed. Just be aware that the remote lock/alarm receiver is in the mirror, so be sure that a) you get a mirror with the receiver, not the similar shaped 1-series one. b) the receiver has the right frequency (in my case 433 MHz, but maybe different for each region?).

Great addition and one of the few extra's I really missed as my daily driver!

Once you have the rear-view mirror you might want to consider a 'mirrorjohn' type glass swap to avoid any future problems with a leaking mirror.

I’ve had a look at my driver’s door loom . It’s quite difficult to count the wires because they’re bundled together, but it looks like it’s a fairly well-populated loom.

Based on these photos, does it look like the correct wiring is already present for the power-fold mirrors/module, or is there a specific connector or wire count I should be looking for?

Hi all, I’ve attached a couple of pictures can anyone confirm if this is a goer for powerfold mirrors? This the connector the door loom plugs into, does it look like the centre wiring is already there?

I’ve also got a dimming rear-view mirror, if that helps confirm whether the wiring is likely already present.

If it is a goer, I’ll then need to track down the correct door looms for both the driver and passenger sides. Does anyone know the correct part codes I should be looking for?

Thanks 😊

Well I can see the 3 wire colours i listed above, so yes, it's likely.

The colours I listed work like this:

Red/white: will be red with a white stripe. The red will be slightly more dominant than the white.

A white/red wire will be a white wire with a red stripe with slightly more white.

Additional info: a wire listed with 3 colours: red/white/yellow will be a red wire with a white stripe and then will have a yellow dash line repeated along the length. A white/red/yellow wire will look very similar to red/white/yellow wire but with the slightly obvious differences that I have explained above.

This is why I can't guarantee you have the wires but its highly you have them.

If I was to get replacement door looms are the correct codes 6948048 + 6948054? Thx
Did you keep the door looms from the breaker you have/had?

If so then you can use wires from those to add to your current door looms. The wires will be the wrong colours but will be the right length and have the pins on both ends you need. Label the wires both ends so that you or anyone else know what they are for.
