Just had a quick look on eBay and a 400ml plasti dip aerosol spray is around £14.

Would that be big enough to do both covers (allowing for some small trials first)? How would it compare with getting them painted by a body shop?
 
Absolutely.
I did both strut braces, both kidney grills and a few test pieces with that exact can.

It'd be cheaper than a bodyshop.. and if you mess up, or dont like it, you can simply peel it off with zero effect on the parts.

Don't use the post office it will cost a fortune,try http://www.interparcel.com much cheaper and will collect from your door or use a shop drop in service.

I can get you individual box size and weight if required. No additional packaging will be required assuming they leave them boxed.
