I have done two of these...

I thought you could only do one of these.
All of you drivers south of the border are really lucky as you have the opportunity to do these courses. :(

There is a 2 year expiry, then you can do another...

If you were caught in Europe for the identical offences it would have cost you 50 Euro, in Scotland you would have lost half tour licence by now and in England in the right location you have to spend some time in a class room. Sounds like we are all well aligned here.

They told us it was 3 years today

You’re right... sausage fingers :)

I guess it's all about what the quote is then... but personally I'd move to a company that doesn't have that metric.

And yet many years ago when I worked in motor insurance (late 70s to mid-80s) 3 points for a speeding endorsement made no difference - even 6 points for 2 didn't so long as you had a full NCD!

But now they want to charge you for NCD protection, even if you have it they want to load the premium if you have a fault claim (they used to just take away the FREE NCD protection for a year), and they want an excess on the windscreen cover.

I'm glad I'm no longer involved in that industry - I'd be too embarrassed to admit it nowadays!

Been on two of these, 4 years apart.

They were good in isolation but have not changed my attitude to driving. Common sense and courtesy dictate how I drive. I never cause anyone to change speed or direction and never or had an accident in 15 years +

I have now been caught doing 40 in a 30 and then 38 in a 30 on roads that I expected to be 40mph, dual carriage ways. Not exactly trying to break the land speed record or in dangerous areas such as town centres or outside schools etc. I do 25k miles a year at least so I always feel that I am walking a tight rope.

The whole system is a licence to print money and SAC's are just a means of taking the money without causing real punishment to decent folk who make a simple mistake monitoring their speed.

Its about time the Police sat and waited for cyclists, not motorists. The blatant violation of every traffic rule by these other 'road users' is getting out of control.
How long would it take you to see a cyclist either shoot a red light, cycle the wrong way down a one way street, cycle without lights, fly up the inside of queuing traffic and worst of all, (although not illegal) is when they cycle on the road, next to an empty cycle path... :headbang:

I've been on 2 SACs. I went on the last one after being caught on a dual carriageway (with a central reservation) that had been changed to a 50 limit. I saw the mobile speed van and was travelling at 60 mph thinking I was 10 mph under the limit. Didn't give it a seconds thought until the ticket arrived and showed 59 in a 50 :headbang:
My pain was eased as it was just over 3 years since my last SAC so I dodged the fine and points

I did one a few weeks ago (my first ever) and it didn't change my attitude to driving. You have to be careful in built up areas...simples. There is just too much risk of hurting someone to be speeding. The course was okay. Like someone said, you just have to have the right attitude for the day as it is a bit preachy if you're generally a sensible driver.

I got caught in an area I didn't know (Milton Keynes), doing 40 in a 30 zone. Pretty sure I was changing lane at the time and just stepped on it a bit to ensure I could switch lanes safely. If anyone has been to Milton Keynes it's bit of an odd place to drive...all straight roads and roundabouts.

As more and more electric cars start to appear on our roads that don't have to pay road tax then the authorities will have to get their money somehow - I predict an increase in speed monitoring. One thing I did learn that was interesting is that part of your fine goes to the named constabulary (think this wasn't always the case) so they have been incentivised to catch us out!

I got done for speeding in my old work vehicle 39 in a 30 area approaching a 40 limit a collegue was done the same day he got an awareness course ( his 2nd speeding offence ) I got 3 points and fine ( my first speeding in 40 years) wish I new how it is worked out who gets what

But what are they going to do now it has been proven that a 20 zone increases the number of deaths and injuries? Shock horror for the "lower speed" brigade who were convinced that if you made everyone drive at 10 mph that there would be no deaths and injuries.

Time to get realistic - get the speed up like they did in NL, and reap the benefits without downsides.

I think you have to be in a small window over the limit to get the course, over this & it’s points and a fine :(

That’s not going to happen here, they’re speed obsessed & determined to punish us...

They = just a couple of people that have nothing better to do. So frustrating that it will only take one or two people to wreck an entire area with blanket speed restrictions.
