Pork, Strudel & Cheese With Holes - a road trip :-)

Hope you have an awesome time all of you - girls not quite finished their A levels in Guiseleyland so we couldn't make it this year, maybe next time.

Bits of the second half of the route I know quite well as that's about where we end up in our Euro hoons too.

The roads south of Baden Baden are great - but often busy, and the Furka Grimstel Susten pass area is awesome  make sure you get your Carnets for Switzerand's Motorways (and Austria too if that features in the route)

Tolls are always fun - we always pull over the right hand side of the booth entrance and make the kids get out and pay - getting close to the off kerb, and kid leaning out of the window didn't seem to work as well (put the ticket somewhere safe everytime too - don't ask!) Walkie Talkies were good too.

Suggest you do try to get to the Reims grandstand just for the obligatory picture - make sure you've got it on your nav though as we flew past the junction off the Motorway and missed out last time!

 watching a toll ticket blow out of the window is a rite of passage for any euro hooner & has to be done once to know not to do it again

South of Baden Baden could be quiet - we could only get an early factory tour, so we're up very early that morning...

Already got Swiss vignettes, and Wee Bing is briefed about tolls

I will re-charge that to Bing as he wanted to visit the red light district in Eindhoven and wanted me to do the translation for him. 8)
I think they probably know enough English to say 'sucky, sucky - 30 Euro, big boy'

I did not know Eindhoven has a red light district. Perhaps Wee Bing needs educated :D

Isn't the Netherlands one big red light district? happynetherlandsflag.gif

enjoy the trip guys, some stunning views on those routes (and no, I don't mean Bing's butt)

What a great trip! Looking forward to reading reports and seeing how long before you all fall out about who should lead!

Have a fab time and post lots of pics so those of us that can't be there can enjoy remotely :)
Really jealous of some of those roads you'll be driving

we can't agree at the moment as to what constitutes Day 1 :o

looking forward to it and will certainly keep you updated - meant do do this all the time i had the Zeds but the starts never quite aligned . for me the stand out bit seems to be the route 500 through the Black Forest at 5:30 am to make the Beetle Factory for a tour at 9:30.

The not being able to count was a Scottish only thing :P

Looking forward to it - first time I will have two of my cars at the same time in the Eurotunnel :D

I guess Full Team day 1 is Thursday. Day 0 is getting to the start point.

Are we actually leaving at 5.30am ? F*ck. I thought we were getting up at 5.30am. I'm not bothered, but WB will not be impressed. Oops

We can't tell him until that evening, ok ? :ninja:

He'll be fine when we get going though, it will be awesome :driving:

so you think you wont have lost him by the Tunnel ?

No - I am specially collecting him before the tunnel as I booked the high vehicle section (for the width of course).

I will lose him soon after Calais as there are a few junctions there 8)

Although I don't have the French camera detector anymore as it is still in the M, so will have to keep him with me a bit longer as I can never remember where the 3 cameras are that we pass ...

At least I will be useful for periods of the trip, though I'll never really know where we are :D

Note my comment above about keeping quiet about the time we need to leave on the Friday...

As soon as we meet up at Maidstone I will say "hey, wee Bing, looking forward to leaving the hotel at 530 on Friday? "

Even worse, that's 04:30 in proper hours..... impressive :D

Excellent point Mark, no need to adjust for time zones to soften the blow. May as well give the full whack

All shiny and ready for the off tomorrow :driving:
