Roadster all the way. It is really the only way to go with this particular car imho. I just like the styling with the top down so much more. I respect coupes for all that they are, but really, we get to feel the wind in our hair when we want to. I love it!

IMHO if you like roadsters then the Z4 offers alot for the money including good looks and if your not into roof down driving and want a coupe then again the Z4 offers alot, I personally do not think the Coupe is very Photogenic unless taken by a pro, Not having seen many Coupes in the flesh so to speak it makes it difficult to judge if it is a nice looker, However the one time I did get the chance to see one up close on a meet last year then I have to say it is a Decent looking motor, it looks poised and slightly menacing, especially when it is on the move.
Having said that if I am going to own a sports car then for me it has to be a Roadster

Assuming BMW have a good grasp on the theories of supply and demand does this not tell us all we know about which is best/most desirable ? If the coupe was the winner then there would be more of those.

This is not a poll of what you own, it's what you would buy if you had to do it all again.

Maybe we just dont want to raise certain sociological issues, Coupe is the connoisseurs choice.

So as an E89 owner, so technically impartial, if I was going to buy a new theoretical Z4 that came in both forms I just wouldn't consider the coupe. The reason is there is nothing better than driving along a nice country road on a clear day with the top down and the sun on your face.

The clear distinction for me is: -

With a roadster you have the choice, top up when you want comfort and warmth, top down when you and the elements allow

With a coupe you have no choice

The E89 is just an evolution of the roadster to make it more comfortable.

I have what I need depending on the weather at the push of a little bottom in 20 seconds and heads turn when I do it at the traffic light then drive on as the operation completes and the roof makes it's disappearing act in the trunk.

I've got nothing to add beyond what sars has written - sums up the appeal of a roadster perfectly from my point of view . Two cars in one

There were a lot more VHS video recorders than Betamax.

So...Betamax was exclusive ?
