Do you guys take any precautions to clean the underside of the car during winter to remove grit etc?

I've just received a Karcher under-chassis cleaner gadget (on sale on Amazon.co.uk) which I'll be using regularly this winter to clean the salty crud off each weekend that the Z gets used.

Been researching clean, rust-treatment, slow-dry, plus dinitrol in-cavity, plus hardcoat on the bottom. But will have to save that for next summer as it's pricy and there's no-one nearby as far as I can tell. Closest two only do waxoyl.

Don't know if it's all too over the top, but I'd like our Z to be a long term keeper so £500 is probably worth it on balance...

I have got NO time for people that 'Mothball or Hibernate' there cars over winter, even if it is your 2nd or even 3rd car?
Why bother buying one?? :headbang:
MAN UP!! My cousin lives in Canada and uses his Z3M as a daily drive, they have already had snow this autumn.

Mines a Roaster and itll be used 12months a year, i love those Bright sunny winter days when the air's got a really sharp bite, means ROOF DOWN HEATERS ON, BOOM! :driving: :driving:
Winter air bellow 5deg is a lot more dense in oxygen than +20deg air = sharper throttle response (thats a fact but it may make no difference that u can feel but im going with that lol)

Obviously never got stranded in the snow on summer runflats  Far safer to leave the car at home on bad days or simply store it out of harms way over winter and use a car with suitable winter tyres :) Thats what I do. If I had to use the Z4 then would have to fork out £1700 for replacement BMW 17s with winter runflats :o

Absolutely! Pressure washer regularly in the snowy season.

Using through winter except when its snowing

Same here as its my only car and daily driver but the snow issue is more to do with some out of control car sliding and crashing into me than getting stuck or stranded

Looks like I've made a big blooper with the weather this year :headbang:

Last year I tucked the Zed away on SORN December to February and felt it was a good move as it was snowing, icy or raining and there was salt everywhere. This year I believed the doom-and-gloom forecasts about a harsh winter and then we've had the longest dry spell for months, some nice bright days and above average temp's. Gutted!

Yup, we've been fairly lucky this year. bit of a frost, then a bit of drizzle. Put winters on two weekends ago and its barely dropped below 10 deg :headbang:

I'll be using it again over winter ... The beater always fails its MOT this time of year and it doesn't suit me to get it running until after January. Maybe the beater has had its day ... But it is ideal to spread the milage on even if that takes up summer miles and not winter miles. Winter doesn't bother me , I like it in the zed, mileage depressed me and I wish it didn't.

Don't know about winter and frost snow and ice - what about the muck on the roads from farm work - went out this weekend and it was lethal on the country roads - like driving on diesel! A combination of low temperatures mud slime and drizzle - dangerous - take care out there!

:driving:

I don't have a zed to run this winter. But if I did, it would only come out on dry weekends.

Black zed = hard to keep clean. And I'm a bit OCD

Surely that is CDO Adamski.....Like OCD but how it should be....Int he correct alphabetical order!

And yes...only car so will deffo use through the winter.

Nope, Z4 is cleaned within an inch of its life and has been parked up for winter. Will be starting it and moving it every so often to avoid any problems.

Will be running a 03/53 325ci m-sport conv auto over winter. Its already filthy and im just glad that its on that old car not my shiny Z4.

Got myself a Peugeot 306 Hdi just to keep the Zed clean over the winter. May drive it the odd sunny day if we have one, or if we are going somewhere "posh" lol

My M is my daily.. So yep.

Don't have much choice haha, lets just hope we don't see much snow in Bristol or getting to work may be hard!

Yes.

I cant vote :? unless thread is now locked.

But, I drive mine all year, would drive me nuts if he was sitting on the drive and not taking him out. I do use my other car for really bad weather, but that never lasts long anyway :D
