Is that legal in the UK?
My mechanic friend don't do dodgy stuff that would put me in confrontation with our friends with the talking brouches lol
The strip light only comes on with side lights setting and goes out when xenons get switched on so I don't see no problem legally it's not like there chavtastic dazzling blue haze non beam hid dazzling things (no disprespect to hid lights if done properly) and i only use side lights on a dull day and not like some that would drive round like this with fogs on as well at night...ghetto lol

When my side lights fail my indicators light up like that. Are you led sidelights canbus? When I put cheap non canbus leds in I got the same look !

Ive done this too, you just disconnect the sidelights, no coding needed
it is 100% legal and will pass the MOT, the new 5 series has orange sidelights

What led sidelights did you buy? Need some for mine as the previous ones died.
He got me the same ones he uses on his M3s that he hires out for racing so when I see him Friday I'll ask him : )

Looks pretty daft to me, like your car is broken and the hazards are stuck on... :tumbleweed:

To each their own, but if involved/caused an accident because someone couldn't tell if you're indicating or not you'll have fun explaining what happened.

If someone pulls out on you because they thought you were indicating then thats their fault.

indicating is just that, an indication. Shouldn't be taken as gospel.

they dont flash and you wouldn't be indicating left and right at the same time would you?? if it wasn't safe bmw wouldn't sell the new 5 series like it would they??

In the same vein that flashing headlights is to WARN someone of your presence, not to give them right of way but if a collision occurred I'm sure most would argue 'he flashed me to let me go'. Either way, will be a fun discussion with police / insurance I'm sure. Non-standard modification of rudimentary lighting that can have a negative affect on comprehension of turn signals. If I were an insurance claims adviser I'd see that as an easy no-pay out win.

The F10 running lights only show orange to the sides, which is definitely permitted in the UK regs, they're white at the front - so a bit different to US-style orange running lights

If it's not flashing you don't make your move full stop and if u can't tell it's indicating u don't make your move full stop ...full stop lol but I do think mine is the legal version as my side lights have not been disconnected unlike the other guys orange one?

I can only agree with this - has anyone who's done this informed their insurance company of the mod? If not, and there's a claim it wouldn't surprise me if they refused to payout

I'm not saying it's illegal, just that your policy is likely to require that you inform the insurance company of any modifications so that they can decide if they're willing to continue to provide cover and change the premium if they think the mod carries additional risk

And p.s when these do flash these flash twice as bright as the strip when the strip is on so u know when the indicators on .There's a big different between a glowing and flashing .
