Picking up the beast tomorrow

Looks nice, and nice handover area as well.

Like the last photo....makes the bonnet look like its entering warpspeed!

Looks like they have a new handover area, i bought my X5 4.8 from them a couple of years ago & the handover area wasnt as nice as that!

Did get some flowers though! :)

cheers everyone!

I just put 700 miles in, it's rapid... only set off an hour ago :p

At speed the car drives a bit loose and I can't get my head around it, it's not noticeable at speeds less than 60mph, but over this the steering feels slack regardless of which mode she's in (ie) sports. When she gets the gas there's a kind of chassis twist which could be what's described in some of the reviews where they say it's too powerful for the chassis, at a decent speed the best I could describe is that its like going down a hotel corridor and bouncing off the walls after having too many sherberts. There's a fair amount of play in the steering wheel at speed, I'd guess around 20 degrees.

anyone got any ideas?

Not that I've noticed. Mines only a 35i though. Guy on here had a similar type of problem and think it was the steering rack

Firstly really nice motor there BBO7NER  but those don't sound like normal driving characteristics especially the slack steering you mention. There should be some noticable weighting to the steering when in sports mode even over 60mph and even under moderate acceleration. The chassis twist is also puzzling as the E89 chassis is usually pretty compitent. I run a few more bhp than stock models and can report non of those characteristics even approaching the 400hp mark. Steering feels pretty well connected under acceleration, it does go light as the front end rises when your smoking it but never leaves you feeling that you dont have some degree of control.

Might be worth raising these characteristics with the dealer, possibly get a tech to come out for a drive with you. Hope you get to the bottom of it and really get to enjoy that motor :)
