Hey guys and girls,

One of the next jobs I want to do on my car is paint the calipers, however I'm completely stuck on colour choice.
My sensible head says Black, but part of me is wondering about other colours or finishes.

If any of you out there are running Style 135 wheels with painted calipers, could you please post up some pics to help me make up my mind :)

Thanks in advance for any input.

I would match your interior (cream)

Not keen on the idea of "champagne" colour calipers.
Maybe a light gold, almost like a galvanised finish.

Silver looks nice! A good clean finish! I hadn't considered it before but it's now on the short list!

What calipers are those MrWilks?

Ahhmmm  they are the £15 ebay caliper covers that happened to be the perfect colour i was after .
They took approx 20mins to fit & also gave some definition to the pretty weedy looking standard calipers

Another deciding factor was spending £200 + a week off the road having calipers removed, blasted, painted refitted on previous car :o

EDIT.... is it just a set of these type of things? if so whats the quality like and I'm guessing they look half decent in real life otherwise u wouldn't have kept them on?

They looked more than ok imo , even once the standard ones are painted they aren't the prettiest :?
i would have been happier with plain ones but couldn't find any in the Bmw blue shade
Forum member "spokes" has the car now so you will have to PM him to see if they are still on the car but here are some closer pics just before i sold the car

I've had mine painted but was quite disappointed how quickly they need to be cleaned up or even re-painted.
Tried jet washing, spraying with brake cleaner (without removing the wheels) and they never really look as good as I'd like.
Considered the plastic ones as Mr Wilkes as they look as though they would clean up easier.
Only alternative I've found from UK are thesehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGP-brake...heels_tyre_Trims_Trims_ET&hash=item339c2aba5a Would prefer in a colour though but I like the idea of how they are attached, i.e. not glued.
Anyone ever tried these?

I like those covers but dont they require glueing to the calipers?

i wasn't too sure on this..... just read the link on ebay that says ..................... "Easy Install with Silicon Glue (Silicon Glue isn't included )" so i can only assume you mastic/silicone them on which would peel off easy under enough pressure(if needed) yet strong enough for it not to move anywhere/fall off, but would the heat build up affect it in anyway???

From memory they slid under existing retaining springs / clips :? did need a little snipping to get them to sit snugly but i didn't have any issues in 6-9months with them coming loose even directly jetwashing them .
I thought they were worth a go for £15 & wasn't disappointed

Hmm, caliper covers definitely aren't a route I'd go down.
Feels too much like putting an ///M badge on a 2.0.

I had proper brakes on my Bora though! A set of Tarox Billet Aluminium B32 Calipers anodised Orange with F2000 discs.

Maybe another set of these will be on the cards at some point.

Bit like fitting R32 brakes on a Bora
Painting your calipers will freshen them up but if you have gone to the above trouble before then you are always going to be underwhelmed with the 3.0 ones on your car from factory , time to dig deep & upgrade maybe ?

Well, not really no. r32 brakes on a Bora will always perform better than the factory 288mm ATE setup, (not that mine were R32 brakes)

Making a stock caliper look like a brembo GT monoblock is like telling someone they can have lobster for dinner then giving them a crab stick draped in lobster carapace.

I'll be sticking with the stock calipers and going for a different disc/pad setup with braided lines most likely as I don't really bother with track days any more.

seem to remember "tomscott" doing a nice paint job himself on his calipers , maybe worth a PM or dig through his threads
