A Anonymous Guest Jan 18, 2014 #4 Will anything work if the phone is off? The iPhone one shows the current location...not sure if it shows last known location if the phone is off. What if the phone is factory reset?

A Anonymous Guest Jan 18, 2014 #6 Yeah, but a new sim alone won't stop it working I wouldn't have thought, and yes, they might turn it off, but it will have to be used at some point. Make sure its got a pin code when turning on. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chirp up soon.

Any app worth it's salt will be based upon the phone's IMEI not the sim card.
