Phoenix Yellow Coupe project.

Those rust buckets never looked nice on any car :poke: , I was talking about the ultimate pre-facelift wheels, the 107 ones young lady

Hoorah!!! New alloys fitted!
Yes, I know the CSL has been done time and time again, but they just look iconic on a Z4. They’re reps, I’m not minted, the details are below.
8.5 x 19 et40
9.5 x 19 et35
235/35/19 and 265/35/19 tyres, Toyo Proxy front and rear.
I’ve not drive it yet as time is at a premium, but I will review them soon!!!
Very excited.

Looking good. Small drop needed now.
My friend is selling some H&R lowering springs cheap. If you’re interested

They look great! Quick question re. the rear though: aren’t they 265/30/19 instead of 35? Comparing to the front the rears look very similar in height

Thanks

The car pretty rotten, but a few cleans and a clay bar have got it looking much better. The seats still need some TLC and the bodywork is high on the agenda of things to put right.

I was thinking about lowering it but the stance seems pretty good at the moment, I’m happy with the current look.

Not sure which way to go then after that? I need to think of something now that I have a channel and followers.

I had a bad experience with an Eibach Pro lowered coupe.
Especially with ET37 fronts.

I suffered 2 problems.
Rubbing arch liner on both front sides, and it was just too low.
The underside would catch on roads that had a hump or raise in the middle of the lane, the front bumper would hit curbs, too.
Not that I ever park front in, but the missus tried once and caught the front.
It ruined the experience.

Swapping to a more conservative wheel offset solved the arch liner rub, but it was still too low.
I went back to OEM spec Suplex springs at the front. Problems solved.

Some folk say they can get away with the Eibach Pro, without suffering either of my problems, others experience the same.
Maybe some Eibach Pros are saggy?

Almost bought a phoenix yellow last year, love the colour and so cool that you’re fixing this one up. Wheels already look awesome!

Thank you.
I’ve really enjoyed it upto now and got it back on the road much quicker than I thought I would.
The
Bodywork is the next thing that’s going to receive some scrutiny, I’ve got all the panels, just need a bit of time time.
Thanks for the comment.

What have you been doing over Easter :poke:

I’ve had to work most of Easter, I’ve just started a new position in work which means my 12 months of working from home is over. All my shifts are 12hrs, so with travel I’m away from home 14hrs a day, so not much to report on the Z4. I’ve a few days off coming up so I’ve some very minor things to do on the car.
I need to get it up on a proper lift, it sounds like the prop shaft bearing is on its way out, so will need to sort that out soon.

Hello folks.
Not much to report on the ‘Zeds not dead’ project.
I filmed a brake bulb change, but nothing more exciting than that.
I managed to kerb one of my new alloys last week driving down a very narrow path at a cottage we were staying in in Ruthin, North Wales. Absolutely gutted.
Next job will be taking the passenger wing off and replacing it like for like with a spare I picked up a few weeks ago.
That will be filmed and added to YouTube.
Anyways, hope you like this video.

Ta ta.

Not much of an update for the ‘Zeds not dead’ coupe. I’m back on my regular roster, 12hr days and nights, family life to balance etc etc.
Anyway, I’ve been using the car a bit more, done a couple of commutes which is an 80+mile round trip, and pleased to say that after its first full tank has been emptied and refilled, I’ve calculated a respectable 29.4mpg, which is pretty darn decent.
Next job to do when I get a few days is taking the bumper off and replacing the passenger front wing and side skirt and hope the colour match is ok. I will film this for the YouTube channel. I also have a niggly bulb warning light to put right, but all the lights are working, so not sure what that is……..
Anyway, here are a few night time pictures from a few minutes ago. This car really does look good pretty much all the time (in my biased opinion).

It certainly does! It makes a change to see an E86 in a colour.
