Petrol Prices!

Interestingly, within the last week or so near me, petrol has gone down slightly from 1.30 unleaded to £1.28. One garage (BP) in the town centre is still charging £1.30! Over the last week people have been voting with their wheels! I travel past it every day to and from work and so far I haven't seen one car in there filling up at rush hour! Usually quite busy! Maybe we should all do this more and just not go the the most expensive garages in your area.

Quote " pump and petrol wholesale prices at record levels yet oil is substantially cheaper than in 2008 when wholesale petrol last peaked.
With oil and wholesale fuels trade in dollars, exchange rates are not a factor. Someone seems to be making substantially more money from lower raw material costs, and something needs to be done about it"

In other words, BLATANT PROFITEERING!! :x

The recent drop in petrol prices has come as a welcome relief. What is the cheapest you have seen so far? At my local Asda it is now down to £1.277

128.9 at my local Sainsburys.. 131.9 for their super unleaded which is what I run. Prices are only at this level for a short period, they're about to go back up... and then we get the super lovely government increase in August... yay can't wait.

Saw 129.9 on my way through London today

Shame I had filled up at home before leaving

£1.45 L of super up here atm :(

Funny looking back at the start of this thread people complaining about £1 a litre nearly a third more now.

Fuel has dropped slightly at the pumps but the barrel price has dropped even more.

The sad fact is we're actually being ripped off even more than before. You can't win with the oil companies.

I can tell when Tesco is going to do their 5p/litre promotion as they slowly bring the price up over the preceding few weeks. I reckon this pays for their effective 2p discount when the promo launches. Still, every little helps eh? :headbang:

I am waiching the oil prices as I could stock up for the winter, and with the oil being about 10p a litre cheaper, that makes it £500 cheaper to fill up than a month ago.

Stuart, you are absolutely right, my wife use to have a shop in a Tesco's based shopping centre in Coventry, whenever they were about to have a 5p discount offer they would put all their fuel up by 2p a litre the week before, so buy the time you have spent £50 you weren't getting much of a deal anyway, plus their petrol is rubbish.

Well double some good news for motorists today... asda and sainsburies have announced price drops... and the government have postponed the planned 3p rise in Aug till next year :D

lets have a £1 a gallon again lol only if it would be great :D
+1 I've just turned 40. My first car used to cost me £25 to fill up. I'm very sure that wages haven't tripled in that space of time....
