People gawping makes me feel wierd! Do you get this?

I've noticed since owning the car, that a fair few people literally gawp or crane their heads as far as possible to look at the car.

Or it could be my dark ruggish features!

Young/old etc you name it.

To be honest, I find it slightly unnerving at times! I tend to stay away from attention, but the car refuses to do so!

I've owned a lotus 111r and an M3, and those barely got a double take. Weird....

One dude nearly crashed into the car ahead as he was looking over on the M6 in stop start traffic last Friday.

i look at astons in same manner and i still look at zeds in same way. just from design point of view they are frigin cool to look at.

The only people that seem to show interest in my car are school boys and old people. 3 times I've been in the car and an 8 year old kid will shout 'nice car mate!'. Once I was getting in the car and a kid was walking past with his dad and he made his dad wait until I got in the car and drove off so he could watch me - that was awkward/embarrasing.

Why can't it be hot girls in bikinis? Or is that just in the movies? :(

I have had my Z4 for about two weeks and have noticed people looking and passing comments.
At first I thought they were admiring the car but now I think it is a case of
"Look at that old F**t what is he doing driving such a nice car"
:( :(

Since i've fitted the hardtop the Z gets a lot of attention  ,but the only downside it attracts the wrong attention ie the boy racers which is a pain

Had this a few times makes me feel good to be honest worked hard to buy the car.

Had three small boys taking photos on mobile phones when driving to Le-Mans last year and the chef came out and said what a beautiful car i had :D and when i started her up he came out to watch me drive off.

Had a women ask her husband what is that car there could not here his reply but she replied its georgous and at the same junction a dad was telling his son to look at the nice sports car but best of all is the three separate compliments from Cobra owners :D :D

Plenty of looks of admiration (and presumably the odd derogatory one), but it causes a reaction, which is surprising for what is now a near 10 year old design.

The one's that really make me smile are those who really want to look, but try to ensure that you don't know they are looking. You see them at the lights and when walking past the car while your in it. If you like the car - hell just look....

When I got my first Z4 in 2003 it was rare for me to go anywhere and not get at least one comment or question. I could rarely go a day without a comment and I can't recall any negative comments. Now maybe once every month or so and mostly from kids.

When I first got the car... I didn't notice it, but mate commented on a cute girl that was checking us out as we drove past, I'm under no illusion, that's entirely down to the car! Worn off slightly over the last few years. Where I used to live it stood out as something special against the Fords, VWs, Renaults... I'm now surrounded by V8 Vantages, DB9s, 911s, SL AMGs... not so special anymore but I do stand out for not having a Boxster. 8)

And bikini girls in MK? "Movies", you say? Is that then one where you're speeding to fix the lonely stewardess's air conditioner... dude, you need to ease up on the porn!

Nothing wrong with an 'old' design getting appreciative looks......if only!

I agree. Interesting time for the Z4 over the next few years as it moves from a fresh cutting edge design into hopefully a classic design a la E type, Healey 3000 and other of the rear cabin long bonnet styles.

Haha! That's so true. I parked it in Morrisons car park once with the roof down and as I was walking back to the car a woman was getting out of hers and started walking over to mine to peer inside and as she heard the car unlock and saw me walking towards it, she casually looked the other way and pretended she wasn't looking

I have a fair share of "nice car mate". "like ur car", stares, u have to give credit to chris bangle- coz when the car came out lots of people didnt like it and commented on chris. Look now more than ever we get more comments and looks. I cant see people doing this to boxster or SLK.

I've always loved the design of the Z4 since day one, however I do remember someone saying they thought it had been designed with a machete lol. I think it was a designer from Ford at the time.
