People gawping makes me feel wierd! Do you get this?

A grey 3.0 litre passed me on the M56 roof down this afternoon and I thought, that still looks a fantastic car! Like most of the bangle designs they were way ahead of other cars and they still look good today.

I once came out of my last house and this absolutely gorgeous looking woman who lived two doors away looked at me long and hard and said "Niiiccceee caaarrrr!" in the most "god-I-just-wet-my-pants" voice you ever heard :titshake: ...sadly her rugby-playing husband was stood there so all I could manage was a meek little "yes" before driving off.

I moved shortly afterwards. :(

And if my wife is reading this :voodoo: , I just made the whole thing up..... :innocent:

agreed. Look at the preivous 7 serious... it still looks like a new design that you have to get used to. that's pretty awesome if you can do that as designer though the 7 is probably the worst example and Z is the best.

Years in, I still get a lot of looks and compliments, though the number of people shooting me with cell-phones has tapered a bit. Having gone from a roadster to a coupe, I've noticed people are less prone to talk to me at stoplights in the coupe; having the top down on a roadster seems to encourage chatting. The car is still relatively unknown, it seems. I've overheard girls asking their boyfriends what it is a few times, with the men replying "Erm, a BMW something..."

One downside. I came out to the car recently and discovered the passenger window covered with greasy fingerprints from someone peering in.

ya gotta admit that they are damn fine cars tho.i still stop in my tracks n stare, even though i have my own.there's just something about these that make ya wanna gawp. 8)

SWMBO and I were at the site of ancient Roman ruins near Ostia, Italy, outside Rome. As I parked the Z, four or five young boys ran over and said, almost in unison, 'Bella maccina!' ('beautiful machine'). Appreciation of nice rides must be in their genes.

The French are generally reserved in similar circumstances, but the younger ones are less so. SWMBO and I were easing through a small town, top down. As we rounded a curve, a few teen-age school girls turned to look at us. One of them yelled 'Je t'aime!' (I love you!) I waved as we drove by. After a deadly silence for almost a minute, SWMBO said in a matter-of-fact tone, 'She meant the car.' I looked at her and said, 'Ooohhh, are we a bit jealous?' End of conversation. :yeah:

Yup, gotta agree on all your points here guys!

My fiancee is abroad on holiday this month, i bought the car whilst she was away, kind of a little present for mself.

She was actually worried that it would attract too much attention from the opposite sex. Little does she know!!!!!!!!

haha, I've never owned BMW or a 2 seat convertible up until July when I got my Z4. I've NEVER had this much attention from people and other drivers, etc. My previous car was a Lexus IS300 and a sedan isn't as sexy as a roadster. in my area the enthusiasts are usually tuners (EVO, STI, 350Z) cars and some of them are awesome. Mind may not be as fast or brute as some of those but people love my car :)

I got a "nice car man, I've always liked those Zs" from a Ferrari 360 driver :-O

don't get me started on the stares and looks I get from girls....I have a girlfriend but even she thinks the attention is positive. especially if were both in the car

I seriously LOVE my Z4--not because of the attention or badge--but because the car stands out in the seas of Aston Martins, Porsches and import tuners without being pretentious. I love it. :)

yeah but your 3-series doesn't look like a 4-door Honda

I got this a bit in my previous black zed - but in yellow its actually quite embarrasing at times.
I was driving home through central london (a5, marble arch, park lane etc) yesterday and it was SO busy which mean it was stop start for quite a way. I sometimes think what they must be thinking seeing somebody drive a YELLOW car vs something less bright i.e. black. Then i think - "i dont care!"

I ended up just having a laugh with it and joking around with some people who stared which was more than a glance!

All good fun!

I had a 'damien' kid stare at me in the petrol station a while back. It got a bit uncomfortable until the mum came back and realised i looked a bit unnerved. She said thats his dream car for when he gets older. I smiled (sort of) and hoped i hadn't been cursed by weird kid. :D

Other than that not much really, London isn't short of flash motors.

Yep i get it all the time. I've noticed i can't go down a road without someone looking at it! I've had loads of comments too.

It's a stunning car though and there aren't a lot around.

Ive had 2 older men pull up next to me and say "Race You", its only a 2.0 though :(

Get quite a few looks from girls aswell, i always think it says something about a person though if there only interested in you because of your car. This all started when a girl from my sisters work asked who just dropped you off in that ferrari, followed by is he rich, car in question was my £1000 Red 1988 mk1 mr2.

The girlfriend gets loads of looks when driving the Z4 and in her car, but then a white Suzuki Swift Sport with black viper stripes does stand out abit amongst the usual boring euro cars on the road.

I almost hate having the radio on with the top down. People assume that with the top down I can hear theme comment nice car....I didn't realize how much those speakers blocked outside noise.
I do tend to be a little self concious of people looking, but I've learned to live with it.

I always got lots of comments on my zed, the best one was silent....as I turned a corner, two really hot young ladies with a couple of "lucky" young guys were already half way across the street. The two girls stopped, turned, and smiled (obviously at the car) and the two guys with them were not impressed with their behaviour at all. LOL

The Zed also garners unwelcome attention:
I had a traffic cop, busy with a speeder, shake his fist at me after I downshifted, following a minivan and NOT speeding. This was one of the reasons I picked up an M3, It looks plain enough to disappear in the traffic when needed. Of course my gf is still po'd at losing the zed so that's why I joined this forum, to find out more about the next car I get, a Z4 s3.5i, '09 or 10, I'm not sure yet.

ciao,
