Passenger one touch window not working up

Morning folks,

I can't work out why my one touch up doesn't work on the passenger side. I've got it working on the drivers side by running it down to the bottom, holding it for 10 secs and then backup and hold for 10 seconds

Am I missing a trick somewhere?

I have 3 E85s here at the moment. None of them will do one touch up on the passenger side.
I believe its a 'feature'. :headbang:

When doing the reset, you need to hold the switch until the faint clicking sound, 10 sec may be too long. I remeber there was a thread with an alternative reset sequence too.

Pretty certain the reset won't achieve that though. God knows I've tried enough times
I think [ref]Scooba_Steve[/ref] may be correct and it needs coding?

Could be that too and pre 4/2004 might still be out of luck, says some posts. The alternative reset was with doors closed, open window fully and immediately click open four times within 10 seconds. Then do the conventional close window and holding wait for click, open window and holding wait for click, close window anf holding wait for click -sequence.

My car is May'03 build and I had passenger one touch window, 5mph central door locking, indicator flash and beep when locking/unlocking and hood open/close from keyfob all coded last year, I think with ISTA

Thanks for confirming my brain still works

Notes on initializing power window unit (from 04/2004)

Warning!
Danger of injury!

There is no anti-trapping protection during initialization.

Note:
Cars built prior and up to 04/2004 have no anti-trapping protection and on the passenger side no toll closing function.

Initialization is performed on the power window switch of the relevant door.

Requirements for correct initialization:

Initialization with engine running
Convertible top, doors and windows closed
Initialization comprises:

Erasure of initialization
Reinitialization

An initialization must be performed:
In the event of malfunctions, e.g. no one-touch control function, no opening or if available no comfort function is possible
After the power window drive has been replaced
After work is carried out on the power window mechanism
After a power supply interruption, e.g. disconnection of the battery or disconnection of the power supply to the door
After the door window glass has been removed and installed or replaced
After adjustment work on the door window glass
After adjustment work on the convertible top
After replacement of seals

Erasure of initialization:

Open door window glass fully
Operate power window switch in ”Open” position four times within 10 seconds
This erases initialization of the power window, anti-trapping protection and toll function are inactive.

Check whether one-touch control (toll) function is inactive, otherwise repeat procedure.

Reinitialization:

Avoid a break between the two steps!

Open door window glass fully
Operate and hold power window switch in ”Close” position (second switch stage)
Once the upper end position has been reached, hold power window switch in "Close" position for approx. 2 seconds longer

Open door window glass fully
Operate and hold power window switch in ”Close” position (second switch stage)
Once the upper end position has been reached, hold power window switch in "Close" position for approx. 2 seconds longer

This completes initialization.

Note:
Carry out function check (one-touch control function, anti-trapping protection and, if necessary, comfort function).

Well there's my answer then.
Need to buy a newer one.

I have a 2003 E85 and the one touch windows (up and/or down) have to be coded. Coded mine and they both work fine.

Yup, all e85 models can be coded to offer one touch on all windows.
Isn't it odd that BMW don't say that. Thankfully easy to prove them wrong!
It's because it's a safety feature - my MG ZT had the software capability to do one touch up on all windows, even the pins on the ECU for the sensors, but only the drivers side window had an anti-trap sensor, so thats the only one that worked.

Having had my hand trapped in a window, it's not fun. But not super painful.

OK I think I get it now. Anti-trap isn't a feature pre-04, so one touch was disabled. Except contrary to the guidance, it is possible (though doubt via DIS/ISTA as an option).

Checked on mine today, July 04 build, one touch up and down , on passenger side switch, not something that I've knowingly had coded,
