Parking Ticket

Since when did that start? There have been previous meets where I have waited in the car park and never paid for a ticket. When we had breakfast last time I did have a valid ticket.

Just for info - I won that case against one of those rogue companies in the summer based on the actual loss figure that they could not justify at the POPLA appeal I raised. That £40 has to be quantified.

Not that POPLA does not cost you anything, and it will cost them. Downside if you do lose, is that you have to pay the full amount.

When did you get the ticket Eddie?

Others who were there may also get caught by this as the cameras record your time in & time out - I can't remember if I bought a 1 or 2 hour ticket
We both bought 2 hour tickets.
Cheers Steve - I remember stealing 10p off you because I didn't have enough change but that's about it

Your thinking of Battle :poke:

That 10p with the current interest rate, will cost you £40 Perry.

ECP must have taken over since then I guess.

Thanks GreyZed,if I don't pay the £40 fine within 28 days of the letter which is the 10th the fine doubles to £80.

It's not a fine. It is a speculative invoice. Contract Law (common) not statute. They have to prove their loss or that you entered into a contract and accepted their Terms. Either way if you are reasonable and offer to cover their demonstrable loss I cannot really see any Judge worth their salt ruling against you in a County Court.

How can £80 be justified when the underpayment was a couple of pounds? Bully Boy tactics to extort money under a pseudo legal front.

I would fight it all the way, but you're not me so you have to make your own decision. Maybe do a bit of research into any recent case law. Things may have moved on in the last 12 months but last time I checked most of these companies were staying away from court for the most part so as not to prompt any rulings that would ruin their little scams.

I paid for two hours - but I don't remember any clear signage saying that the car park is covered by ANPR. That's a bugger Eddie, maybe give protesting it a shot as greyzed says.

Next time, I will cover my plates when I go there. They have no right to take images of my car.

Luckily I got it off Steve rather than PVR's Payday Loan Co. with its 'competitive' 12,500% APR :poke:

Even better, we can put a plate on each car at the front (the same one) of someone we really hate :D

Tell them the truth see what they say. Just say you had every intention of paying and did pay. Please could you reduce the fine to the fee of the parking instead? worth a shot. others £40 it is then....I have got away with this sort of thing once 8)

There's an idea.... I wonder how quickly I can get a job lot of M2 PVR plates made up

I have 10 of those in the garage, so no need to go through that expense :P

If you all use srhutch's plate, with any luck they'll send the fine to that Romanian van driver :D
