Do you have it in writing that they were going to fit OEM? If so, you don't have a problem.
No, just an assurance on the phone that they would be oem. You wouldn't think we would have to get it in writing would you? Should have known better.Stuart Truman said:Do you have it in writing that they were going to fit OEM? If so, you don't have a problem.
Yes, I did and yes, valid point but I could decided to keep it after the four years. Don't know what's going to happen there.Maniac said:Carol, did you get your car on PCP? (as in the deal most 20i cars on here did) Because if you did, it can't devalue your car as you'll give it back to them surely? The dealership won't knock value off, they're not bothered about incidentals... perhaps?
Dexter_Morgan said:Sorry I have to agree with your rejection. Despite what others are saying I don't think they look right, and I know it would annoy the hell out of me. I hope you get it sorted. If the dealer said OEM then what they have provided is not acceptable. If they didn't I still don't think it cuts the mustard.
BTW I use an app on my mobile that records calls. I'm not sure of the legality should anything proceed to court but people hearing what they have said played back to them tends to have a constructive effect in these situations.
kevinmarkwhite said:The simple fact is that these cars were sold/advertised with a feature that was not actually present.
We paid £x amount for the car and then find a feature wasn't included.
For some people that feature was a deal clincher, for others it was not so important, but the fact remains the car was advertised as having it.
Some of the "compensation" that some people have got (money, replacement car with free auto etc) is proof enough that BMW accept they made a cock-up.
So Carol's compensation was to have a feature fitted to her car, effectivelly in leiu of the missing feature.
Nothing grabbing about that - its like when I order a full english breakfast...I will substitute the mushrooms with something else for the same price.
So in a round-about sort of way, she has substituted hill start assist with front/rear pdc.
What doesn't help the situation is people have got different results, so BMW obviously have no hard line on the value of hill start.
Carol negotiated to have OEM PDC fitted, and she didn't get that on the front (what are the backs like?).
OK, so now the aftermarket ones are fixed they should perform identically etc, but they dont look the same - and for a lot of people, the look of the car is just as important as its function.
So her case for wanting OEM (or if that genuinly isn't possible, OEM lookalike) is valid and then when it turns out she actually negotiated OEM with the dealer, her case stands strong - although they've given her PDC, its not OEM PDC so isn't what she ordered!
The fact they've done it free is irrelivent, cos she has already paid for it by paying the price of the car which came delivered missing hill start assist.
Lack of hill start isn't an issue for me, but Keith lives in Edinburgh (assuming he hasn't died from legionaires?) and for him hill start was important. But just as its not an issue for me, doesnt mean its right, and although I havent done anything about it, I'm keeping it as ammo for if they dont sort my leak out.
No one thinks that of you. I'm a bit like you and hate confrontation and hassle.Carol M said:I'm glad people can see my point and/or agree with me as I've been made out to be a grabbing opportunist and I'm so not like that.

I was one of the first to give my opinion on these sensors and was reluctant to do so but glad I did.
They did not deliver and you are entitled to 100% satisfaction with your purchase. Simple.
Costa.

You've made a balanced decision to pursue this......believe me I kicked off more when they washed my car once when I told them not to, and undid all my hard work in one half hour period....
It would me-like has been said they are expensive cars, and you should be totally 100% happy with it!Carol M said:It would Andy, you're right.
