Parking Sensors fitted

I had the OEM sensors on my previous 1 Series and were very useful especially when parking in the garage. They should be slightly concave in the bumper not pretruding. I kinda wish I had specced them on the Zed but I prefer the cleaner look. Put it this way I'm megga careful when squeezing the Zed in the garage :)

If they help stop getting the bumpers knocked then they are worth it but I hate to say it Carol they just don't look right :( a bit too aftermarket, a bit shocked BMW didn't fit OEM to be honest.

Tim.

BMW doesn't have a retrofit kit for the front bumper. Retrofitting OEM to the front may have been too difficult for the dealer's technicians.

With the rear, there is a complete kit with instructions.

Had rear sensors retrofitted to the wife's Passat when she bought it, as part of the deal. They're flush and OEM. In your case Carol, I don't think this was a difficulty thing, just cost, and as a prestige marque, BMW really have not produced the goods here. Complete tightwads, I would be letting them know how pi$$ed I was at their 'solution' especially as the fronts don't work properly.

+1

I have front and rear oem sensors and they fit flush. I think yours look ok but I would certainly get the dealer to demo them working correctly. If they can't then get them to supply ones that do!

Most importantly. Keep enjoying the car!

cant see a problem with them, plus they only have to beep once to make you aware that something is close. i clipped mine and had to fit an aftermarket kit, its good for the piece of mind and would have saved the 200 bill for the scratch..

they dont look 'bad' per say, just not as discrete as the oem fitting. As long as they work properly, thats the main thing

I don't think it is an excuse, but you did push them to do it, so one has to be careful what one wishes for in case it comes true...

I don't know if this is the standard BMW retrofit solution or a third party fitment however i guess it may be a standard bmw retrofit solution. the issue probably stems from the fact the non PDC bumpers dont have clips behind the bumper to allow flush fitting. the retrofit solution will require drilling of the bumper and the sensors will pass through the bumper and be secured by a threaded style fitting which requires them to sit slightly proud.

i dont think they look that bad tbh

i wouldnt have them, i prefer the clean look ..

I don't think they're bad at all. You can still see the OEM ones (even if they are flush fitting) so I wouldn't worry too much (personally).

Besides if I'd had them it may have stopped me over-driving the front on a kerb that was slightly higher than I'd anticipated  - no damage fortunately, but horrible grinding noise and a few minutes of panic……

They've definitely fitted the cheaper version. Knowing me, it'll eat me up. As far as they're concerned they've fitted sensors and that's it.
Just need them to fix them now! :headbang: :headbang:

Well said that man! :driving:

Why did they not fit your parking sensors at the same positions like this

No idea. I shall maybe ask the fitter.
They're coming out to the house next week to fix them. The engineer from the people that do the sensors reckons the bloke that fitted them didn't adjust the sensitivity properly. I'm glad they are coming to the house because I would've objected to going all the way back to the dealers yet again.

Don't agree, I think front parking sensors look classy and show the car as high spec, ie having extras....and as I'm a sucker for the options list, it rocks my boat!

Also, as I have no spacial awareness, I need them to avoid smashing the front end!!!
