parking on private property and the law

re the OP - Can you fit a bollard in the bay?

Yes, but the feckr will just park in the entrance part leading up to the bay's, difficult to explain but the bollard solution would be most effective if it was installed at area entrance. Will post pick later to illustrate.

To be fair to the guy he has been told a space is included in the rent he is paying going from what you say, so from his point of view he has the right to park there (even though in fact he hasn't).. it seems the actual fault is the guy who has leased the place out for giving incorrect information to the tenant, can you not approach that person?

Yes, this is a fair comment, but he has been told in no uncertain terms he and his landlord have no rights to the land. His beef should be with the landlord who I think should at least cover the cost of the permit.
Just because your mate/boss:landlord says you can do something criminal doesn't mean to say it is legal or perpetrator is blameless!

...'chinning' is phase 3, but hoping not to go there

totally agree...was just kinda pointing out it would maybe worth going after the landlord

Would dread to think what would happen if it doesn't get sorted soon, it's not like it's something to go to war over but jeez does my head in and has seriously got me thinking - when was the last time I actually wanted to punch someone and did!

We have a similar situation although nowhere near as bad. The Sainsbury driver arrives to next door and because he wears Hi Vis thinks he can park where he wants !

Hire a skip for a week and put it in you parking spot.
contact the property owner and tell him your going to get in touch with the inland revenue to to make sure the he's is paying tax unless he sorts it.
Contact you council to see if they have a landlord licensing program and make sure he is on it.
Fekin hate absent landlords.

You don't want to get into any tit for tat squabbles if you can help it.

The last thing you want is your car being keyed or punches thrown etc.....

Depends on how confident you are and that you're not easily intimidated but I'd have a sterner word with him stating that he's parking where he shouldn't and why is he being a knob when he's only just moved in. Calling him a knob might not help but the 'please don't park there' talk you had previously has simply fallen on deaf ears.

A bollard is going to cost you and why should you have to do this? It's YOUR space and he needs to understand that one way or another.

In fact fcuk it, cover his car in Nitromors overnight and then go all UFC on him when he kicks off!

We have to contend with this F*$Kwit :headbang: The caravan is outside his house so parks the people carrier outside ours :poke:

So now he has blocked the field of view of both sides of the junction, oh to be a Policewoman

That's not "parked" - it's Abandoned!

While a bollard may not prevent anyone parking in the first place it would certainly prevent them leaving. Nothing they can do about that apart from commit criminal damage to escape.

Get something like this in the link below. Cheap, effective and you could have more than one. You could also position them so that if he does park in your space, you could pull up the bollards and block him in. Definitely what I would do! After locking him in the space, you could go out for the day and really P him off.

Did you know, with the exception of North Somerset Council, enforcement of parking infringements is no longer a criminal matter in all local authority areas.

I'm gobsmacked, I've just shopped the Galaxies biggest moron, see if anything happens. So if, as a result of his parking, someone is seriously injured is he culpable?

Surely the Galaxy is partially blocking the junction and the police can take action for obstruction etc. The caravan, don't they have to be parked off the public highway? No expert but there must be something you can do. Next time he goes away in the caravan buy a banger, insure it and leave it outside his house indefinitely, see how he likes it!

I just found this on a web site if it helps, I bet he doesn't have any lights on it at night :)

Just been on the Police National Legal Database www.askthe.police.uk/content/q629.htm

Q629 asks the same question. with the answer showing as Yes you can park on the road as long as it does not cause an obstruction.

The caravan MUST be lit at night if its parked on the road and comply with the normal parking rules (the nearside must face the pavement so the rear lights are at the rear for approaching traffic).

These rules also apply to any similar trailer parked on the road

Well I started off by going to North Somerset Police website to report a crime, 30 minutes of form filling later I had given up the will to live and so gave up, which seems this is one way the Police can keep reported crime low. TBH, I don't think the police are really that interested in this kind of crime.

Its probably quicker to phone them on the none emergency number, hopefully at least a PCSO would check it out if you hammed it up a little regarding the obstruction the junction "I saw a kid nearly get killed because of his parking!" etc. Also a lot of these new build housing estates have restrictions on what you can and cant park there. I know a friend of mine cant park his small boat on his drive at his 15 year old property because of this. Not sure this sort of thing would apply to caravans or what actual action you could take anyway. Might be worth a look though.

The caravan when parked on the public highway should also have registration plates on it that correspond to the vehicle that normally tows it. Without registration plates it could technically be deemed abandoned as there is no way of tracing an owner. Abandoned vehicles are dealt with by your local council.

Might also be worth while running the number plates of the Galaxy through the DVLA site to see if the vehicle is taxed and has a current MOT certificate

We were going to do something similar to this to get a small bit of revenge on someone.
We were going to get a banger that was not taxed or motd and register it to the person in question and park it outside their house.
If they called to complain about the eyesore they would get a shock when they found out they owned it and possibly a fine and costs to get rid of it.

The V5 would be sent to them though so they would know :?
