Hope it goes well, ronk!
Carol - while I'm sure you're dead impressed that we've all suddenly become armchair psychologists
, I'd keep an open mind in regard to a potential anxiety/stress-related diagnosis. I was in the same place about 3 years ago when I left work in an ambulance with my heart rate pegged at about 100 for three hours. Nothing to do with my heart condition (although this is the reason why they "upgraded" me to critical care) - it was just down to a pure buildup of pressure at work. While it will be a relief if it is just anxiety, I wouldn't necessarily say that the path to fixing it will be any smoother, particularly if you don't actual feel stressed out at all.
That said, my sister had a really tough time with mood/extreme anxiety when she was younger that I guess many people (me included) suspected might just be in her head or growing pains - turned out to be a benign tumour on her pituitary gland! It's pretty incredible that these things can be identified and treated these days. As gov says, if it is a physical issue then the treatment path might actually be very straightforward.
