To be honest, I personally wouldn't be giving him a penny until the job is completed to your satisfaction. It's his mess and he needs to sort it out.

Hmmm :? "Don't pay anything until happy "
How does it work at your garage ?
Does the customer get to try the car out before they hand over the cash ?
I doubt it & in the past ive had enough poor repairs carried out that id paid for on handover of my keys to find on the way home all was not right
I love how this thread has lynched the contractor from the off  100% confirming my decision never to work for joe public

We fix them correctly or they don't leave the garage.. We don't do half measures or poor quality work..
Never give the customer cause for complaint and always exceed what the customer expects ..
Its what I was brought up with and has always continued ..

He's agreed to get his other decorator to fix the paint job and leave off the cost of us getting someone else to re-do the paper (recent quote we got for the lot was £800). He is also going to leave off the price of us buying another 8 rolls of paper and more paint. We are quite happy with that and actually he is a really nice bloke to be fair. We'll pay up when its all done. Phew. I've certainly learnt a lot about this stuff in the past few weeks and thank you everyone here for your input![]()
