Painted Calipers - Express Yourself !

I've read through this thread 2 or 3 times with the aim of getting some inspiration as to the colour I could do my callipers. I'm no nearer a decision now than I was before I began reading, so can I ask for some ideas. As you can see I'm white with black roof and wheels. I'm leaning towards red or blue however indecision and dithering aren't helping. Please help a confused and embarrassed old man. Thanks :dizzy: :dizzy:

I decided to paint mine this past weekend, I also painted the lettering on the tires with a marker pen.

Confused and Embarassed ???
You drive a Zed !!
Shoulders back!
Head held high !

Old ?
Sorry - I can't help you there.

Actually I put alot of thought into the colour.
Actually was considering copper or gold.
But the ones I actually saw on a car, looked "rusty".

Plus there is BMW Traditions to be cognizant of.
That bring blue into the mix.

Once you have done the initial paint prep it's easy to try a colour and evaluate.
I'm thinking with the black wheels, an accent bright colour draw attention to your wheels.

Embarrassed because I’m unable to make a clear cut decision, but I believe the decision has been found, RED they shall be...........brush or spray..????

Photos of the wheels will be up soon, hopefully RED will do as suggested :D

Gave the calipers a lick of paint. Thought they looked a bit drab sitting behind my new BBS rims.
New discs next I guess.

Slightly digging up an old thread here....

I'm looking at doing this soon (when the snow stops and the temperature is above -2..), how long would you leave the car to allow the paint to cure? I'm using the car as my daily drive so just need an idea as to how much time to allow to do the job.

What do you use to clean them down? Looking at the thread it seems some say brake cleaner and others a general degreaser - is any preferred? Do you tape everywhere up around it to avoid the paint on the disk etc or just take your time not to/bit of both? I see some have sprayed but ill most likely be using the trusty paintbrush.

Do mine in situ one wheel at a time i mask out the areas i do not want the paint to go and use Simoniz Hight Tempereture paint i then spray two coats onto the hub which will dry very quickly i then remove the masking tape and hand paint the calipers using Hammerite Smooth which will also dry very quickly it can be done in one day no probs.

As above, it'd be fine to drive with the evening after being done, but its advised you don't go blasting the paint with a jet wash for a few days.

I went for gold, need a better pic! Once the weather gets better!

Excellent choice of wheels and tyres !

Got the paint. I've gone for blue, the car is Titanium silver, dark grey alloys and black leather so I decided red might be a bit bold and didn't really fit in with the car. Just waiting for a dry day now to get it done!
