Spot on Fred. I've had the AA cover for around 7 years and over that time they've paid out about £3k on my van, £300 on the fiesta and about £1500 on the Z. You can claim up to 5 times a year. Providing your towed to the garage and the car needs the work to get it back on the road they'll pay. As soon as the garage called and explained the problem they check over the parts and authorize it. I had it repaired a couple of times at a BMW dealership and they even paid their silly labour costs and for OEM parts. Then I realised that as long as the garage is VAT registered the AA will pay out, so I took it to my local mechanic who's a one man outfit and trustworthy as well as being a complete petrol head for classic cars aswell..Not that the Z's a classic yet. I'd never be without the AA parts and garage as well as home start and relay etc. Only costs about £350 a year for two cars. I guess if you have new cars they're covered anyway by a manufacturers warranty, but my Z is 2003 and the ford fiasco is 1999, lol. Going to pick the car up today.

Small update from me: my garage water puddle is originating from the nearside headlight washer unit body.

Lol, fortunately not. All paid and sorted. New rad, expansion tank and coolant level sensor. The old rad was in a mess and leaking along with the expansion tank.
I've noticed a big difference in how quickly the car reaches running temp and it may be placebo but the car seems more 'sprightly' a little quicker. Would a new rad make a difference? The engine is purring as before and it's great to know I've still got the car. For a moment there I thought worse case scenario and I'd have to loose it. I didn't realize how attached I've become to it. Being at uni and not driving it for 6 months I'd kinda forgotten how much I love it...

as i said. the thermostat - cold empty pipes is a classic sign.
if its closed the engine will be under pressure and someithing has to give - like a header tank - try taking out the thermostat and running it and see what happens - the amount of cars i ran with out themostats .. or antifreeze for that matter.. (summer) cars were simpler then though ..- i will get my coat. :lol:

The car had a new thermostat / housing a year or so back. It's running nicely now. Have you tried removing the thermostat from your Z? It'll go faster without the added weight!
