Am waiting to hear those words fm Bing...

Non of that limiter stuff in my car, thank you very much :poke:

Not while you own it anyway :P

Speaking to my indie today after he'd serviced my car, his eyes lit up when I told him why I'm selling mine and he demanded that I take my replacement in for them to see. He said, and I quote, "now that's a f*cking awesome car that loves to be driven, beautiful machines" 8)

He also mentioned a wee tune and tweak they can do that will de-restrict it / remove the limiters and "make it even sharper", especially the pull from 60 through 80 and onwards... Think he's a bit of a petrol head

Beginning of December Adamski, my Xmas prezzie from my wife, it still hasn't sunk in that I own such a lovely car yet I look out the window and say to myself is that really mine

If my wife bought me a motor like that for a xmas present, I'd be looking at her and thinking "is she really mine ? " !!

Your last paragraph sounds good any ideas how much he charges and where he is based

H&C Motors in Maidstone... But like all these things I'd need to do some nosing around before committing, just to be sure what exactly is possible. I know that there's not much you can do to an M to make it faster except dump a blower in it like Beedub, unless you have the patience and time to go all exdos on it and apply serious science. It isn't cheap either - he said about £400.

To be honest I'm pretty sure it'll be just fine without doing anything. I'm also getting waaaaaay ahead of myself as the car is still in pvr's garage

Thanks Bing, but I have to admit its plenty quick enough without any mods

If you want to spend money to improve a Z4M then spend the first bit on a suspension upgrade.

There you go, science  :D

Actually, probably just common sense, but it can seem like science to some...

Or spend a little on professional driver training, so that you can do more with what you've already got.

I'll need the driver training, the suspension & the blower

Never felt it too slow, with a top of 167 real MPH on the GPS top down and following a fellow forum member in his GT3 in Germany, I was never left behind.

It does help if the boys tell you to move faster 8)

Sounds good! Red limiter is there to protect hitting it won't do any damage, but sweet spot is about 2-300rpm lower for a sweet gear change

If you watch Franzino's video of him chasing a Z4MC around The Ring http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=64317, you can see how the Z4MC would benefit from a Rear Trailing Arm Limiter kit when the rear suspension snatches back on the tight corners. Cost of a TMS RTAB kit approx £100 from here: http://www.simpsonmotorsport.co.uk/bmw-tuning/product.asp?id=67&pid=67&cid=61&pcid=59&product=98 Or less for a different type from here: http://www.rogueengineering.com/rogue/s_bush/rtab_shim.html.

More science - I need to do some reading

mmm-five - I've wanted 'an M car' for many years, but one of the things I have always said is that if I ever have one then I'll get some proper driver training. I'm no racing driver, but I do want to be able to drive it, preferably with an understanding of what the car is telling me before something disappointing happens. When the time comes I'll be looking for some recommendations

Bing,

Somebody recommended "Car Limits" to me.

http://www.carlimits.com/

It's something I've been meaning to do for a while but never got round to it (Ruby was interested also at one stage). If you're keen we might be able to conjure some sort of group deal?

+1 for this :)

That looks perfect - Essex is not exactly far, 4 people should be easy to sort, and £220 has got to be good value. The site says that 3 insurers (whom I have never heard of) offer discounts once you've done the course. I wonder if any others would...

I've no idea, but always worth mentioning that you can correct over-steer from 90degrees....what insurer wouldn't want that re-asurance

I'm sure we'd get 4 people no problem.

The only factor you'd have to consider is how much a new set of tyres / brake pads would cost after the day of skidding around an airfield

£600 for decent tyres - although I'd buy some cheap ditchfinder tyres for the event and then put the originals back on.

You could always do what I did when I arrived (wasn't a car limits event) with two rear tyres at 3mm when I started and -3mm when I finished (cords & steel showing). I had brought 2 spares with me, but one of the fronts was letting out air by the end too, so had to stop every 30 minutes to put 10psi back in.

This is what an hour on an airfield can do - albeit on a lardy M5

Plus the considerable reduction in resale value of the car after it's been abused on track. :P :poke:
