Other Drivers Attitude Towards Z4 Drivers?

Pulled up at the traffic lights the other day. On red, front of queue, left hand lane, roof down.

Then it happens......I hear it coming long before I see it and up it rolls alongside.........Doosh,doosh.doosh coming from the stereo and plopping and whining from the exhaust......And that's when I make the mistake.....I looked over.. :headbang:

There is spotty faced wazzack yoof and his companions in what was once a Renault Clio circa 2002. Dropped on it's 'arris, massive ugly wheels with tyres way,way too small (bit like some of the "ladies" that go out around here on a Saturday night, size 20 in a size 8) some kind of 'orrible vinyl wrap on bonnet and roof and one of those jumbo, catering, mega size baked bean tin sized exhaust. I reckon the engine engine was so small for the exhaust the gases were just dropping out.....

Then the prat in the passenger side leans out and says.." Aye up, you wanna race"? I just smiled and said "no thanks".....You some kind of faggot in yer 'airdressers car....f***in........blah, blah, blah. Was the response I got.....I just smiled again and politely told him and his friends to go back to play school and come back when they have grown up a bit...........

Lights go green.......little bit of pippy squeak from numpty's front tyres as he attempts a wheelspin....passenger leaning out the window giving me the w***er sign as were the 2 yoof's in the back.................

That was when I got honked at from behind 'cos I hadn't moved due to the stomach cramping laughter and tears rolling down my face

Some people, Why, just Why??????????

My wife experiences loads of tailgaters in her Z4. Just morons trying to goad you into speeding or driving up the tailpipe of the car in front. Most are white vans and HGVs, but quite a few are Range Rovers and the like too. I've just got my own Z4 - had it just one day but had the same myself today. A 44 tonner intent on using the bit of tarmac I was on. Mind you, you see them doing the same to other HGVs on the motorway too. Maybe its not just Z4s they do it too they're just clinically blind.

I suspect lots of drivers are simply jealous of the sports car and expect you to drive like tw*ts as they do themselves. Let them go past and cause an accident elsewhere.
Its partly the BMW badge too - sadly, it sets an expectation that you're going to drive like a maniac denying both the laws of gravity and Newtons laws of motion like most BMW drivers seem to.
I've driven a Freelander for years - being low down in the Zed does makes it feel like they're closer in your mirror, but, I get my fair share of tailgaters in the FL too. I recently had a Range Rover following me less than three feet from my rear bumper at 30mph. He got right upset because I had him on video and pointed to the camera. When I stopped at a junction he jumped out to have a go but thankfully the traffic moved off. He then followed me for 5 miles even after I'd doubled back. Ended up stopping outside the local police station awaiting some serious road rage! Moron - Had every second on camera including his face.

If they persist, the cure seems to be liberal application of 250+BHP when the opportunity arises and leave them quickly receding to the horizon behind you.....

Usually not a problem, until I go to work (in Bracknell)!

IQ there seems to be significantly lower than the UK average (otherwise they would surely live somewhere else anyway)!

Then every Fiesta ST and 1.2 Corsa with the VXR bodykit wants to have a race - the only other car I have had that caused the same reaction was a Capri 2.8 Injection back in the 80s!

Still I get some entertainment as there are plenty of roundabouts and some NSL dual carriageways. :D
