Yes you can.
You have to start the update, wait until it has started, then you can exit and lock. The alarm won’t arm and the iDrive will stay on.

Seems there’s a fair bit in the download as it states in the release notes and various forums online. Will have a try this weekend. See if it finally updates.
Yeah I tried it remote to start and it was slow as hell. Downloaded to the app using home WiFi, was over a gb. Then next time got in car, told it to transfer then drove 20 mins to work and it was ready to install when I parked
