Once you get over the feeling of not being in control, cruise becomes one of the best options you can have. However there is one downside, you soon notice how hard it is for other people to control a stable speed on the motorway

sars - do you have to switch yours on? On the Audi, you select the + to get the cruise on. On the BMW, you had to switch the system on first - then set the speed which is a two step approach.
The E70 cruise is lovely, it also leaves a red dot on the speedo at the set speed if active, or green if not.
Quite nice when you press resume tooZed Five said:pvr said:sars said:so what extra functionality does the Audi system have over the BMW one, as for usability I'm unsure how the BMW system could be simpler, different of course but simpler no

E89 is the same. Just push forward to activate (at that speed). Nice dot on speedo, that also changes colour when temporarily unset.

Surprised by this....are you sure yours is working? I love the sport button, great for countryside blasts, but is good to have it turned off when pootling around town.
Works the same way on the X3 but, as the system has three different ways of activating the cruise speed, I've recoded the SET button to activate the LIM function, this acts as a soft speed limiter and you set your maximum speed using the cruise rocker and speedo marker - very useful when in an urban area with lots of speed cameras. The limiter is 'soft' because you can override it by pressing harder on the throttle so it doesn't stop purposeful acceleration if neededpvr said:sars - do you have to switch yours on? Yep works fine, you can instantly tell the throttle has responded when you press it. I just press the accelerator further if i want to go faster![]()
Thats exactly what I mean about electric seats , they are good if you swap drivers all the time but if its only you that drives it would be played with once until a position was found and then never touched again.RickRob said:I wouldn't swap my electric memory seat, as Mrs R and I have totally different settings.
Just in case she sees this, Mrs R is an essential mandatory component![]()
