Hi Chris, Right here we go,
Here is the VIN specs, my conversion to the original OTR price and my depreciation calculator (not considering mileage, condition, service history, etc). [Click the image below for a larger version to read the detail]
Its a low-medium spec'd car having a few options but lacking the high end ones (sat nav / xenons).
The cap valuation on this car comes in at £7,750 - £8,250 Trade In Clean. Wisebuyers says £7,092 for private good based on age and mileage alone. (£8,652 for dealer)
My own calculator comes up as £6,475 for this car at 8.75 years of age before mileage.
The car was first registered in Sept 06 (56 plate) so I need to adjust the valuation accordingly. At 8 years, 9 months old it should have done an average of 87.5k miles. This car is way under that, which at £50 per 1k less means adding £1,575. Taking it to £8,050.
Then I need to add on the MV3 alloys, I dont know the value of these wheels, so I will add an arbitrary £450 and make it a round £8,500
Looking around at the market, I see these cars as its closest competitors : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506023979988 and this car on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-3-0-SPORT-M-SPORT-GREY-WITH-FANTASTIC-WHITE-LEATHER-/261932651699?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfc6714b3
The Autotrader car is slightly newer, slightly less miles and slightly lower spec. The ebay car has more miles and more aftermarket mods. I would say that £9,500 is around the true value of a private sale for the car you are looking at.
I hope this helps
