Opinions on this Z4C

Haha. I wonder what it would be worth in 3 years time actually...

From current prices & looking back over last 3 years if bought wisely then i doubt you would lose much on either a 3.0coupe or the M coupe , whether you would actually be up a few ££ would pbviously depend what price you paid for your chosen car . Just lately ive seen very tidy examples of both Si & M cars sell low & high( as in a difference of £3k :o ) for no apparent reason other than supply, demand .& to some extent a prospective buyers impatience ?

I think I am going to give this car a viewing: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201505253759481/sort/default/maximum-age/up_to_9_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_60000_miles/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/model/z4/make/bmw/channel/cars/transmission/manual/usedcars/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/postcode/rg128ty/radius/1500/page/1?logcode=p Do you guys thing the sort of money it is up for is fair? Seeing as "only" £400 can move you into the realms of an 07 reg with similar if not a bit less mileage. A bartering point I guess.

This is also appealing: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506134296158?channel=cars&sort=default&postcode=rg128ty&page=2&body-type=coupe&make=bmw&transmission=manual&model=z4&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&radius=1500&search-target=usedcars&logcode=p but 5+ owners is a tiny bit off putting, but if the service history is all there, shouldn't make too much difference.

Will keep you updated on how I get on. Having test driven a 3.0Si, I fully understand the comment about a prospective buyers impatience! Haha.

EDIT: Just seen this...tempting! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506104200861?page=3&transmission=manual&search-target=usedcars&body-type=coupe&channel=cars&sort=default&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&model=z4&make=bmw&radius=1500&postcode=rg128ty&logcode=p

Chris,

White e86's are gorgeous! When I bought my coupe a few months ago I didn't even know you could get non m's in white, otherwise I may have held out for one!

re xenons on the coupes, another way to identify factory ones is by the inner lamp. On xenons that's also a dome like the outer one (there's actually no bulb in it) Non xenons have a more conventional looking inner lamp. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck with the search.

I wouldn't be put off by too many owners if it looks like it's been looked after. You have to remember the coupes are getting older now and some people buy them, have some fun, then start a family or something and realize they need to get rid.

Look about. There are many coupes on the market at the moment. Find the one that suits your requirements. Have a budget and stick to it. It took me about 3-4 months before I found one I actually liked and was low miles and on budget. Keep looking and one will crop up.

Birds are a good dealer, I test drove my first coupe there.

Cant see the 2nd link, but the first is certainly cheap. Do you have a wish list?

If so stick it up here and I'll keep a look out.

My wish list is:

Z4C 3.0Si
07 plate ideally, but 06 is fine
Sub 60k miles
Manual
SE or Sport - not a deal breaker for me
Needs full service history with oil services at correct intervals

In terms of options:
Rear PDC - must
Heated seats - must
Multi function steering wheel - must
Bluetooth prep - nice to have
Nav - nice to have
Cruise control - nice to have

Looking to spend £11k ideally. I know that puts the Alpine White one out of reach, but £13+ I can't justify. And I know that probably only means private too.

Going to view this. But it seems strong money for an 06 reg, no,?

Spec and budget seem quite reasonable to me, the only thing may be the miles..

Autotrader link isnt working for me could you paste it up again like this?:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201505243744479

PS most SE's are actually sports that have been mis-listed on autotrader / ebay

Hopefully this link works: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201505253759481

The only other thing which I omitted from my wish list was that it needs to be a manual!

Thats better, ah yes I see this car is only 3 miles down the road from me!

Lowish miles although it is quoted as being both 56k and 66k. I have a feeling its the latter.

Aftermarket MV3 alloys have been added, heated seats, privacy glass, MFSW, rear parking sensors (PDC) possibly xenons (hard to tell) but I cant see any further extras.

Send me the reg when you can and I'll get you the full spec and do a valuation for you.

Also let me know when you are going to see it, I may be able to come along depending on the timing, I have visitors over later..

I've spoken to the chap, his name is Simon, and he confirmed it is 56,000. So pretty low mileage too. He has had the car 3 years and bought it with the MV3s, so must have been the previous owner. I have MV3 on my 3 series, and I'm pretty sure the offset will mean they stick out a bit on a Z4? Not sure if that would cause any problems?

I'm getting the reg from him now and send you a PM when I have it. That would be great if you could attend. He is letting me know as I couldn't do this morning, and he couldn't do this afternoon - but he said he might now be able to make this afternoon. Up in the air a bit, but will let you know. Thanks for your help; appreciate it!

Cool, to my knowledge MV3 Offsets are 34/37? compared to the standard 47/50 on my 108s. According to my crude calculations it would poke out 13mm more which would probably be fine as I know you can easily put 10mm spacers on 108s without issues.

Cool fair enough, send me a pm when you know. I will have family over between 2 and 6 at least so it may not be possible, but you never know hey! Good luck

Hi Chris, Right here we go,

Here is the VIN specs, my conversion to the original OTR price and my depreciation calculator (not considering mileage, condition, service history, etc). [Click the image below for a larger version to read the detail]

NA56SSJ_zpsragb5tpi.jpg

Its a low-medium spec'd car having a few options but lacking the high end ones (sat nav / xenons).

The cap valuation on this car comes in at £7,750 - £8,250 Trade In Clean. Wisebuyers says £7,092 for private good based on age and mileage alone. (£8,652 for dealer)

My own calculator comes up as £6,475 for this car at 8.75 years of age before mileage.

The car was first registered in Sept 06 (56 plate) so I need to adjust the valuation accordingly. At 8 years, 9 months old it should have done an average of 87.5k miles. This car is way under that, which at £50 per 1k less means adding £1,575. Taking it to £8,050.

Then I need to add on the MV3 alloys, I dont know the value of these wheels, so I will add an arbitrary £450 and make it a round £8,500

Looking around at the market, I see these cars as its closest competitors : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506023979988 and this car on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-3-0-SPORT-M-SPORT-GREY-WITH-FANTASTIC-WHITE-LEATHER-/261932651699?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfc6714b3

The Autotrader car is slightly newer, slightly less miles and slightly lower spec. The ebay car has more miles and more aftermarket mods. I would say that £9,500 is around the true value of a private sale for the car you are looking at.

I hope this helps

pass

Looks like a no options ticked model.

Pretty pricey for a lack of msport trim, nav and decent wheels and heated seats

As above, if its the car I remember seeing previously its a Jet Black (non-metallic) SE with no options. Highly undesirable and resale value should be £1k less than the same spec / mileage / condition Sport.

There seems to be a big lull in Z4Cs now. Few and far between on Autotrader (only 5 with sub 60k miles and manual).

They say patience is a virtue, right? Haha.

The Alpine White 08 plate is gorgeous, but for £13450 seems overpriced...
