Hello All,

Does anyone know much about Alpinas getting tuned by Evolve??

I am quite interested in this car, but a bit put off by the retune....

Non lux pack, so no Xenons, satnav - very flimper spec of course. That is something that would put me off when there are plenty out there which are high spec not not messed about with.

It's a known car, owned by BigScreen (Phil) on the Alpina Register

This is when he first put it up for sale last year http://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17670

I don't remember him ever posting anything specific about the engine tuning so it's probably worth having a chat with him to find out what was done

not really bothered about the lux pack.....

not fussed about the suspension mod, just mindful of the engine tune really....have had a chat with him about it.....

going to read up on Alpinas..... 8)

strange.... the current pistonheads ad lists the suspension as V3s but the picture on the original ad is of Clubsports - may be worth asking about this?

doesn't matter if it's been tracked as long as it's been well looked after ,which it sounds like it has . You can always tell this from chatting to the owner and looking through all the bill receipts .

Looks sweet  I think a few track days with fresh oil would do less harm than a lot of stop start commuting

He did try to sell it on here few years ago- I think it looks lovely and to be fair a track day will do no harm provided it is maintained off track! GLWTS

Hmm, not sure I would agree with that. The stress on the components is infinitely higher than for a normally driven car. Sure, you can change the boiled brake fluid more frequent so no harm there, but where metal parts are being stressed it is not immediately obviously.

Fair point but at least if you were to buy this car then you would know it's been on track.

Yep, plenty of M owners I know that have hidden the fact that they have tracked the car.

not too worried if it's been tracked as long as it's been properly looked after, the one thing that's put me off is the Evolve tune....I can't help but worry about the engine.....and don't want to own a car with that worry over my head...

Does the Aplina lump have updated forged Pistons ,steel crank etc ,in which case I'm sure it would easily cope with the tuning Esepcially if it's been done by a reputable company .Well it wouldn't put me off in fact I think it's a big selling point . I would ask to see exactly what was done to the engine in terms of upgraded engine parts and the dyno sheet . The bottom line is when you drive it you'll know if it's a strong engine with good oil pressure and no nasty flat spots or funny noises .And you can always ring the tuning company to see it they inspire you with confidence .

Why would those be clubsports in the picture?

The kw top mounts (a £350 extra) fit both.
