open the roof while driving

Hello
What are the solutions for owners of 2010 z4 to open the roof while driving?
Thank you for your participation

Smarttop will allow you to open it up to a certain soeed, I think it's 30mph

I think I was born with too much mechanical sympathy (or just too damn cautious).
I only open mine when stationary, with the engine running.

Not saying it's necessary, just makes me feel better :D

you can open while driving by keep pressing the button

SmartTop let's you tap the button only (for a price), and more funcs

Carly let's you adjust the max speed to open the roof while driving, max is 30 mph / 50 kmph

I agree, if you're moving and you hit a pothole, it really doesn't like it and you get the red light on the dash.

I only operate it at very low speeds, if I am caught at a traffic light etc.

2012 onwards cars have a beefed up hydraulic mechanism to enable roof operation “on the wing” at higher speeds

Good to know
My 2010 would open the top under un-perceivable speed. Anything above 5mph would halt operation and flash red. I installed the smart top so I can move a bit faster (up to 25 mph) while operating the top. It's a convenience at a price.
Smart top allows for remote operation as well but battery voltage drops considerably during operation and I fear the low voltage/high amp draw will burn the contacts in the salmon relays I just replaced... so I'm resisting using that feature when the engine is not running

I wouldn't operate the top when moving too fast but being able to do it up to a speed is useful if you're at lights and they change unexpectedly

feels more like a air brake Rob! :D

I wouldn’t know about that, I’ve only got a 2litre so don’t need brakes of any kind slowing me down

What about Mrs Smart Bears fine pies.

The Smarttop is the solution - I have it on my 2016 car - Its only up to 25mph and the system fails if it sees any undue inertia - ie pot holes or cornering.

I’m banned from eating them, I’ve lost 16lb since the end of December as a result

There is another module available from XCarStyle, that I've mounted. Max. speed can be configured.

Can be found on German ebay for much less then the named price on their web site.

That looks like a better value alternative to the smartop

In my opinion the SmartTop is better, it is plug & play and can be installed or removed in under half an hour whereas the XCarStyle module has to be spliced into the zeds wiring harness which can lead to poor connections.

Also the SmartTop has more functionality as shown in this link http://www.mods4cars.com/sms/shop/index.php?p=b3JnYT1zbWFydHRvcCZncm91cD0xJmxhbmc9MiZjdXJyPTE=&action=products&cat=3&mode=view&id=112
