One for the DIYers (springs)

Finally got round to fitting a set of Eibach springs last weekend :)

Surprisingly easy job, only issue being that I didn't have the right size offset spanner for the top nut on the front strut...

So time to improvise:

One deep socket, 1 Dremel, 20 mins of chopping and I've got the perfect tool for torquing up the top nuts :)

Thanks for the post, I'm a great believer in improvising but I can't figure out exactly what you needed to modify the socket for and how it fits the top nut. Any chance of a photo showing the socket in position to undo/tighten the top nut. I've never attempted what you have done but never too late to learn.

There's a hex cutout in the top of the strut. You use an allen key to stop the strut from spinning while you undo the nut.

You can buy a socket, but it was quicker to make one...

I have changed the springs on both front struts . I used a ring spanner and hex key. I don't understand the modification of the socket to release the top nut?
Sorry :?
And backing up ronk yes ........only metric.

Didn't have a 24mm offset ring spanner handy, quicker to chop up a spare socket than drive into town and buy one.

Also means I can get a torque wrench on it now.

Coilovers :winner:
Swapped mine, hated the ride.....coilovers are a much better way to get the look you want and far better ride, just my 2 pence worth. :)

I have coilovers on my track car, don't want to take the Z down that route :)
