One coming for a change instead of going

Hello,
Surprisingly I`ve just had an offer accepted on an ///M Coupe, despite talking about waiting until winter for better prices :P . The price is decent albeit not quite as attractive as I was offered a few months ago. The car is the perfect spec for me, one owner from new and fairly low miles but that will soon change in my hands.

Despite this, the 3.0 is still the better all-rounder :P :P :P . Joking aside (teasing aside), I have found the 3.0 to be a fantastic car in th 1.5 years that I have owned it (and 30,000 miles) and hope I enjoy the M more. The previous M`s I`ve owned I kept for 4.5 years and 3 years so all being well I`ll own it for quite a few years.

It`ll be interesting to compare the two in long term use. I`m quite sure the 3.0 is easier to live around town but I`m sure given enough space (or trackdays) the M will come into it`s own.

I was going to take the 3.0 to a trackday this weekend but think I`d better not risk it as it will be traded in. If I bought the M early next year I was going to consider keeping the 3.0 as well to use a daily driver but at the moment I can`t justify it or have the space.

I considered a new Porsche Cayman but as usual I`ve kept to the BMW brand.

COllection won`t be for the best part of 2 weeks but that`s fine, I`ve still got the 3.0 Coupe to enjoy

One down ... one (notorious) one to follow :poke:

Excellent news though, any links / pictures?

Was going to point you to the page but it`s gone already.

Interlagos blue, light sepang leather, 6800 miles, Dec 2006. I either wanted early and low miles or late with average miles.
As for spec it`s a lightweight, just sun protection glass, extended storage and bluetooth phone prep I think. I either wanted one with few extras or one fully loaded (for future resaleability) but my preference was basic spec - I`m a bit of a minimalist and its less to go wrong if keeping for a long while and a little less weight to carry around. In fact one thing I definately wanted was the xenons which of course are standard on the M :D .
Just one previous owner from new which is something else I preferred to have rather than multiple owners or ex-demo cars. Not that there`s anything wrong with such cars just my preference to have one previous private owner.

Driving home today 30 miles through brilliant country lanes I know I`ll miss the 3.0. It sounds wonderful and performs brilliantly. Obviously the M will perform better but the 3.0SI is a cracker with it`s more modern engine (a rarity in standard cars vs M cars), and therefore combination of performance and economy.

Looking forward to picking it up  It`s had the 1200 mile service and is also going to have the first service before I collect.

Deal wise they offered the same trade-in as I was offered three months ago which was nice (my 3.0 is three months older and 3400 miles more and counting and of course there are plenty of 3.0 for sale right now). Also after haggling hard got a sizeable amount off the price of the car also
Some pics to follow in a couple of weeks.

Sounds like the one in Warwick discussed elsewhere. Great colour choice - I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how it compares to your current car.

Darren M, Interlagos blue is the best color IMO....
You'll love the sound of the "M"...

Congratulations

Hopefully you will love it, and it will be interesting to see a write up on the real world differences.

I wonder to whom you refer.... He'll come around too.

Congrats Darren, I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

I had a sit in that one the other day, are you a local (to warwick) man then ?

Very nice car !

When do you pick it up ? I'll be in there crying about my roof when I get back from France :?

The only time you will get a true comparison is if someone has owned both and now drive a different car. Your never going to diss a car you have just changed to!

Anyway, congrats on the new car. That interior looked interesting.

Trust me I would :D although I`m sure most wouldn`t. I know it won`t be disappointing though. I have realistic expectations and if it exceeds that I`ll be more happy.

Oi get out of me car :D
Pick it up Sat 18th at around mid-day. Could of picked it up sooner but I`m in no rush.
I live in Berkshire but don`t mind travelling to see/purchase the right car.

WLH,, I wanted interlagos blue from the beginning  with a ligtht interior (light sepang or champagne) although I would of settled for other colour combinations if the price was right (I liked silver, white and even sepang bronze exterior colours also). SO anyway I have the perfect colour for me and spec also

Drove back past last night about 1am, showroom lit up beautifully... but.... the Z4MC is gone.... :tumbleweed:

:)
It`s off being prepared (oil service etc), they said it would be only be in the showroom for about a day or so with the "SOLD" banner in the window and with doors locked so no more Andy`s can get in

Insurance is arranged. BMW wanted a total of £1230 and a tracker fitted, but current insurers just wanted another £130 more to cover me until end of May 2010.

I`m good to go
