On the subject of dash wrapping...

Im bored of the aluminium trim and feel like it makes the car look older, so I'm looking at alternatives.

Now the M carbon leather would be lovely, but the price is far beyond reasonable! So will have to give that one a miss. My other options are as follows...

A gloss carbon wrap
Matt/textured carbon wrap, such as the 3M stuff
Carbon look fabric glued to the dash (most likely closest to the carbon leather look, sans stitching)

Anyone done any of the above or can offer advice/images?

I have done the following, all looked better then the standard trim set.

5D wrapped carbon.
Piano Black (in the garage covered in dust)
Custom leather wrap.
M Carbon leather dash - Current fitted.

I recently covered mine with leather from a seller on ebay...they supply the loose pattern then you trim and glue it

Hyrdo isnt really an option, it's something I'd be doing myself one day at home rather than sending it off, and something like carbon is perfectly easy to get good quality wraps for home use

I like that look - how hard was it to fit? I imagine it was not made specially for the Z4?

But you’ve stitched yours too? Looks like a good job too!

They are Z4 specific. £50 on eBay.

I did all my panels for the same reason as you - I did a write up about it, but can't seem to find it. :headbang:

Not sure the photo below does it justice but I'm really happy with the result, but getting all the pieces out was a right pita!!

Good luck!

The pattern is made for Z4 but there is still a fair bit of stretching, gluing and cutting to get it fitted. Having said that once you take you time it’s pretty straight forward

The main dash trim was £50, light switch £20 and center console £50. They also do the A pillars and roof panel.

Its something I have been thinking of. My car is silver with red leather seats and I have painted the Calipers red to match and they look good. The dashboard on my E85 looks very dated and uninteresting compared to my brother in laws MX5 and I would like to spruce it up a bit to match seat colour. I have seen on ebay very cheap coloured edge gap material which looks like a very cheap way of adding some detail. Has anyone used this and is it any good.

While I'd love to splash out on carbon leather, it's a bit rich for me! Thinking the 3M textured carbon wrap might be a good call though, dont want a shine and think the dark colours would suit the red leather seats more so than grey

I went down that route

I've got a spare set of trims that I'm contemplating colour coding titanium silver just to see what they look like in the car, but that leather kit off ebay looks pretty good in those photos too. I might have to give that a go.

Get it carbon skinned.

I recently got some of the trims for my M3 skinned (see my Instagram).

How comes the stitching lines are all over the shop? The line at the bottom of the main dash piece that fits around the CD player looks like a worm :o
