A new variant and a lockdown!

I have been saying since about March that we would be locked down again for Christmas, do you think we will be locked down or not?

theres a few that should be locked up.
in answer to your question, it depends what you mean by lockdown.
if you mean, will there be some restrictions such as mask wearing, advice to work from home where possible, then yes, quite likely.
if you mean, will we be locked down in the true sense of the word, then no, probably not.
Lockdown seems to be the go to phrase with anything to do with covid.
the sort of thing my mother keeps saying every time she reads something from the scaremongers on facecrap.
ewww, we will be in lockdown again soon. :?

Personally Id say lockdown = Not allowed to visit people, congregate indoors with those outside your household sorta thing

I think the Government would find it much harder to impose a proper lockdown again without suffering a great deal of civil unrest. People have got Covid fatigue and a great proportion of people will not be happy to have another Christmas without their family.

On the first day of Christmas my government gave to me, a line of bullsheet so thick I simply couldn't see.

Re lockdowns: Over here they don't seem to have the teeth that they do in some other countries. When this whole plandemic started I bought it hook, line and sinker. I washed my hands wore a mask etc, etc, etc.

As I began to realize that we were being played I determined that I would no longer play the game, noncompliance if you will. And, on that point I stand, I will not comply with any of their mandates, directives or whatever other name their controls go by.

If the majority comply they will never stop tightening the screws.

Merry, Happy to you all. The reason for the season should be our focus, all else will become secondary.

I hope that a sensible heads prevail and they dont as I agree with that entirely, people are very much done with the "jam tomorrow" rationale and I doubt that being locked away for another Christmas would be palatable to many

it certainly would not cause me any great problem.
I don't like most people anyway
2 weeks over Christmas would work for me.
I don't mix in crowds, and more than happy to entertain myself.
Christmas grinch…..

its all part of a plan by the supermarkets to encourage panic buying of toilet rolls.
At least if everybody is locked in/up, we wont be panic buying fuel.
or though saying that, I may go and fill up, just in case something happens, even if its not fuel related....

at least If we are in lock down, I can drive from supermarket to supermarket stocking up on essential toilet rolls, and filling up with fuel in between.
who said lock down was boring......

This.....I hope is all....

Whatever they do it won't be right and will give captain hindsight and his band of gobshites more ammo....while they secretly thank f**k they don't have to deal with it.

I think there are quite a few folk who wouldn’t mind being locked down at Christmas to avoid the relatives. Not me of course I love entertaining the family at Christmas. :fuelfire:

Nice to have another pointless Covid thread, so we can get out some of those frustrations and blame some one else.

Suspect in 2 or 3 weeks time it will be announced that the vaccine still works effectively against this variation and no further measures will be needed. This virus is going to be with us for decades and will continue to mutate just like the flu virus does. Every year the vaccines will be tweaked and we will be offered a jab every year just like the flu jab. For those who choose not to be vaccinated we will see. Perhaps they will be just as safe or at risk as they are now. On that we will see and everyone will act or not accordingly.

I am sure the French are to blame somewhere, somehow. :D

Isn't the issue though because there's still alot of the populas unvacinated, especially in poorer countries as in Africa etc then these mutations could reach a point where vacinations become useless.

Think we're fairly lucky in this country as most people saw sense and took the vaccine but unfortunately in poorer countries not so lucky which might undo everything if a mutant strain proves harder to vaccinate against.

Tim.
