Voted roadster as i own one but when buying my Z4 3 years ago the Coupe was out of my price range if it had not been i may well have bought one as i was very wary of buying a roadster bit nervous about top down driving but after owning my roadster i love it especially touring around France top down sooooo nice would not have been as nice with a lid :D

Does not suprise me coupes are probably bought more by car enthusiasts but a lot of roadsters will have been bought purely because it's two seater open top motoring and the owners don't come any where near a forum.

Or perhaps the roadster owners are out in the open enjoying themselves whilst the coupe owners are 'cooped up' indoors :P :poke: :)

Yep I think you're right, don't see many coupes but normally get a wave, roadsters are a totally different story..... :) Still yet to see another MC since owning mine.... :)
 
Coupe for me don't have the need for another roadster however I see far more roadsters out and about.
 
Coupe for me but I’m slightly biased as I only bought mine last week!

I did consider a roadster but I prefer the look of the coupe and as previously mentioned they are a rare sight on the roads (In the north-east anyway).
 
Roadster.............did see one roadster and two coupe out yesterday though.......although it could have been the same coupe twice...........3.0l black at middlemoor roadabout and Tesco car park...
 
Interesting comments and I think ZermattV has hit on something about different types of drivers. I'm guessing here, but I think not many Z4 Coupe owners would be content with another make of 2 seater coupe whereas there are probably more Z4 Roadster owners out there who would be content with another make of 2 seater roadster because it was primarily an open 2 seater they wanted.

Perhaps we should ask what led to your decision to buy your Z? Was it Z4 first then C or R, or was it exclusively the C or R and did you consider alternate makes? I for one only wanted the Z4C because I love the classic lines. The roadster or another coupe just wouldn't do.

No body that i know thinks the Z Vert is a nice looking car... yet agree the Coupe has the right look and lines..maybe it;s just the crowd i know??
 
I just wanted a traditional, big engine at the front, conventional sports car with some refinements! You could say a modern Healey 3000!


What else fits that bill other than a 3.0 roadster?
 
Yep i came looking from a totally different angle wanted a 2 seater sportscar again was considering another MX-5 as I'd had in the past but at the other end of the spectrum had begun looking at caterham 7's and elises and was then kind of reminded of the z4 when i saw one at a local garage.

in the end the 3.0i Z4 hit the right notes in terms of performance , price as a third car and space to go away for the weekend (not the caterhams strong suit).

cards on the table the fact it was a bmw was a negative rather than a plus .. as it took some convincing of SWMBO who is not a BMW fan to put it mildly.

Ron spot on .......... big Healey was exactly what i thought and I've always wanted one in ice blue....
 
I came from an Elise and wanted something sporty but more practical. The shape of the Coupe sold it for me and the fact it was a BMW didn't come into it. Have to say it but it could have been a Mercedes or Toyota and I would have still got it.

Ice blue over ivory! OOOH! Thats the one - But grease nipples, points, tappets - etc Maybe not an every day driver. No the Zed is the modern day equivalent I think.

I / we looked at a Westfield, joined the club, had a test drive, specced the car - everything in place. Then on the way home a codger in a nissan almera smacked int the side of my wifes car - She was then very much on edge after that event - "what if that had happened in a westfield?" There was no argument.

The Zed does afford some protection and was not built by a man in a shed and it has a decent boot!
 
like others, the fact that its a BMW makes little difference, its just the shape that did it for me
