Oh deer.....

Had one of our hoofed friends throw itself infront of the Z tonight on my way out :(

Only had a short time to react as they ran from a bush at the side of the road. I was travelling at about 50mph. Saw the first, and it made it across the road in front of the car, but then the second appeared. I'd already started slowing, and must have hit it at about 20mph or so at a guess. The deer ran off so I don't know how it faired, but one of my nose grilles popped out, span down the road and was promptly run over by a passing car before I'd managed to turn around and get back to it.

Hoping I can get hold of one before Sunday. No other damage apparent on the car thankfully though, although I've noticed that the passenger headlight beam seems a bit low. Not sure if it's always been like this or if it's a result of the knock, but there's zero damage to the light unit, and all the gaps are the same as on the drivers side. The levelling system still works as well, since the beam still moves up and down when starting the car, but rests at a lower point than the other side. Hopefully I can take it to the dealer and they'll look at it "under warranty".

Ho hum. Typical it would happen two working days before Gaydon! Finger's crossed the grilles are a stock item and won't need to be ordered from Germany! And a friend and I were just talking about entering the car in the show'n'shine on Sunday last night.....

Oh no!! :o What a bummer, at least you're OK. I hope all's well with the Z car. 20mph isn't bad at all, shouldn't be enough to hurt much of anything. Good luck and let everyone know how you faired.

Yeah, it could have been a lot worse. Could have hit it hard enough for an airbag to pop for one!

On the plus side, about 30 seconds before it happened I just passed my first Audi R8 on the road. Looked very very nice... and turned out to belong to someone who works with my bro, as I'd passed him also about 2 miles back up the road and after I stopped from hitting the deer he then called me up as he thought he'd passed me. I mentioned the Audi and he said one of his work colleagues had just got one and had just left the office a few moments after him. Now I just need to see if I can get a passenger ride... :D

I took the Z for a ride this afternoon and saw an Audi TT. Didn't like it though, looks funny to me. I don't think I've seen an Audi R8, haven't looked really, plus I live out in the country and have to go to ATL to see fancy cars.

Yeah - i'm not sure about the new TT either, though I think I prefer it to the old one...

The R8 definately looks the part at night with the low slung headlights, and those oh-so-pretty LED sidelights...

The price tag isn't! Looked it up the other day seeing what my future options are... Need several jobs for me to get into it.

Maybe they will have a hoof and dent car show  but I doubt with only a popped out grill you will have a chance at winning :D
need to carry a AR15 w/full clip, you can take the whole herd out with one of those bad boys

I would suggest an AK47 with a 75 round drum magazine in addition to a muzzle break. The 7.62x39 HP round has more stopping power and will not tumble as much. You will have more usable meat :?

Good thinking enfield....meat on the table....still plenty of rounds left in the drum for the rest of the trip. AK fires kinda slow though...but with them looking at the one headlight he had left and standing still.....yeah,It's doable!!!!!!

The least that damn deer coulda done was get killed so you could bring it home get it processed and have deer meat and a deer head on the wall. I swear the nerve of forest animals. I woulda tracked it. Then called someone with a truck

I wouldn't have called someone with a truck......I'd been so mad I would have tracked it and eaten it on the spot

That's why I carry flares. Gotta cook my meat. I'm not a savage.

Thanks Yal  It's been a long time since someone called me a savage......kinda brings a tear to the ole eye   ....oh,the good old days :D

Well the good news is that I've got a new grille this morning. Just got to rub the chrome surround down again and spray it satin black.

And my mate from the BMW shop sent me this to my phone earlier (sorry for the small size!)
