Office dressing

All the windows are oak after the last burglary where the glass was simply removed from the non removable windows supposedly. Now tampered glass, the door has not been replaced yet ...

The last burglary? How many have you had? :o

Enough to hike the premium to over £200 a month, but all caught anyway. Premium finally back to a reasonable £500 a year now at least.

First one caught on DNA as he smoked, second one caught on my CCTV system in HD quality

Heads off to Brighton CID - they were excellent in both cases.

Even more annoying that the channel from the light switch up goes at a 30degree angle to the left.

No idea how I know that

The garage dressing up is taking place at the moment as well, so split BMW / Porsche scenes there.

Who installed that then? IIRC, wiring regs require that all cables buried in walls must run either vertically or horizontally from the switch/socket

+1 - that can't have been signed off by a competent leccy.

They probably left themselves a bit short on the cable run and had to run at an angle to get to the switch rather than pull it all out and run a new cable in.

Not saying it's right but that's the usual trick, once it's skimmed the next anyone knows is when they drill the wall thinking they're away from the vertical run and BANG. Hence I use a cable detector before drilling as I've seen this too many times, it really pisses me off when it happens as it's a complete PITA to repair.

All wiring activities must make a Building Regulations application (current cost around £150 including inspection fee) and arrange to have the work inspected both before and after completion by a qualified and registered electrician, who then provides a certificate for the work. Regulations require all cables buried in walls to run either vertically or horizontally from sockets.

Of course, if all this happened before you bought the house, then you aren't responsible for getting it certified ;)

I build my office in 1999, so not as strict as it would be now.

All signed off though by everyone.

That looks great, is that pic your car? Can't wait for the Cayman now!

Not my actual one, but a black 911-50. Bought the poster (dealer poster) from the US. That was the cheap part, the expensive part was the framing with non reflective glass. £200 for that pleasure and took ages.

Also, the first poster arrived damaged by the postal services, so had to wait for another one to arrive.

I hit the metal cover so no damage done ...
Until someone else tries to drill a hole and goes through it...

If I found something like this I'd be concerned until I'd rerouted it correctly...

I think that the requirement for buried cables to run vertically/horizontally goes back a lot further than 1999 - I seem to remember it being a requirement back when I bought my first property in the 80s

All fully RCD-ed :P
That's not the point - and you know it

You wouldn't write crap code and say 'it's OK if it's full of bugs because I catch all the exceptions and ignore them' :poke:
