oem strut brace

Definitely glad I read this earlier.....was on the cusp of purchasing an oem brace, but I really can't be bothered to faf around with insurance companies.....just gonna make do with the standard fit ones already present!

Just out of curiosity has anyone purchased an oem strut from a supplier other than BMW? :thumbsup:
 
I fitted mine over 2years ago,(i think),to my 2005 3.0i,and have had it on the policy each renewal(just 2weeks ago,again),with Admiral...they didnt add anything other than £6 for this,and put on my policy as "mods/suspension,other..not lowering"
,as i described exactly what i had,an OEM,BMW STRUTBRACE,RUNNING FROM ONE SUSPENSION TOWER TO THE OTHER,and they were ok with it. mentioned my brakes upgrade too..and in previous years my change from Runflat tyres to NON-Runflats,again with Admiral,and got a letter to confirm this wasnt even a mod (tyres that is). other insurers wouldnt let me change to non-rfts at that time,lol

On another note,i will be putting my BMW STRUTBRACE up for sale soon,as car is getting sold/bought an M RDSTR/ SEE OTHER THREAD SOON,IN BUY N SELL :thumbsup:
 
As I've been doing searching I've just fitted a there point brace and was looking for tq settings. In this thread 35nm stated 28ft pounds, but in the how to thread for the strut bar it stated that 35nm=25.8. So just to confirm I just went on the converter and confirmed 35nm=25.8 not the 28 ft pounds as stated above for those searching in this thread.

Now my question is what are the tq settings for the two bolts on the firewall flang?
