Octavia VRS - The latest twatmobile?

Previously my pet hate was Passat's, always driven by reps who feel hard done by they don't have a BMW, Audi or Merc. Yesterday that view changed to the Octavia VRS. Twice last night I met them. First some bell-end and then his dickless cousin who clearly saw (Imola) red at having my zed in front of them. Back off and charge, back off and charge. (I'm not playing mate, feck off) then dangerous overtaking so he can tell the chavette at home that he saw off an M. Feckwits

Sheesh!

I wouldn't worry to much Stu my First car was a Skoda Super Estelle ( My rear engined 911!) and believe me its very hard just living with the shame of driving a Skoda and pretty much everyone taking the pea out of you and from what I see with Skoda`s nowadays they haven't got much better only uglier but with less character so you can be calm and thankful you don't have to go through that embarrassment day in day out of having to get behind the wheel of one! :D

You did well not to get drawn in. Leave them to act like knobs! They are obviously missing something...

Hi Stuart,

How odd. Today, some tool was driving behind me like he was connected to the back of my car with a bungee. It did actually irritate me a little because I was just cruising with the roof down and I found him annoying and a bit intimidating.

I actually gave it some beans when the limit changed from 30 up to 60 and the tool bag then fell back for a few seconds. However, when he caught up, he swerved into the oncoming lane and used his pent up momentum to help him perform some moody overtake manoeuvre. He then swerved back into lane in front of me and had to apply his brakes quite heavily to avoid hitting the car which was 25m or so in front of me.

Cheese beard.

Car was a black Octavia VRS with chav blacked out rear lights, some custom carbon fibre look Skoda badges, etc.

Your post made me laugh because I remember thinking when sitting behind him at the lights 400m further on, "since when did Skoda's start becoming the latest chav wagon?".

 I also had an issue with an octavia vrs a while back where he was in the wrong lane at a set of lights and tried to drive me off the road, rather than indicate and pull in where safe.

I just gave the throttle a light touch and he soon fell way back. Absolute idiot.

I still get it a little in the 911 but nowhere near as many gits as when I was in the Zeds. They must think all P cars are turbos so give up..

I've found a few other VRS skodas the same (is it the Fabia?). I blame that TV ad campaign they did a couple of years ago. They are quick though because they are using the same blown engines as VW/Seat/Audi in many cases.

Perhaps you should have been more considerate and moved over.

I find pretty much any lower or higher performance badge having a go… especially when I have the gf in. Such a pain in the ass.

Hate to say it but usually older bald gentlemen…

Yes, you're right. I should have mounted the kerb, or pulled the magic z4 switch that makes like a whacky races cartoon car and shrinks it width ways to let the poor VRS driver past.

How remiss of me...

This must be a 'real M' thing. In my old daily driver (Polo diesel) I was frequently bullied and tail gated, even when there was a stream of traffic in front of me and I was just keeping up with the flow. Since getting an M135i (aka M-lite) I seem to get nothing but respect. The odd car that does comes charging up behind tends to then drop back and stay back.

I think it's four exhausts and an M badge that rubs some people up the wrong way. Kind of a scalp to be taken. Add in Imola red and a boot spoiler and I think temptation is irresistible for some to just try it on.

Yeah, you selfish git. You've absolutely no right to be in an /M unless you get a stilt switch.

I'm rather pleased people don't see the M-lite as a scalp, suits me just fine.

Its interesting how a car can stir up peoples emotions. I picked up my Z4 last saturday and was sat stationary in heavy traffic on the motorway in the middle lane. I had owned the car for less than 1 hour and a guy in an Astra 2008 plate with wife and two kids in the car came past me doing 10 mph in the slow lane giving the w***er sign. I thought it seemed strange as we were doing 10mph max and so I started trying to backtrack as to wether I had cut him up or something else. Came to the conclusion that it must be the car. Traffic starts moving and I pass him and again the w***er sign-again I try to ignore. Third time hes out of the window giving the sign, his wife is looking in the opposite direction, clearly embarrassed. I open the window and ask 'what?' 'what have i done to you?' 'whats your problem?'. His response was that I thought I was something special in my BMW, all BMW drivers are wankers, my car was s**t, I was a ponce etc etc. I laughed at him, did the window up and the traffic soon cleared and he disappeared into the rear view mirror. The irony is that until 1 hour before my only car was a 2006 Astra, same model as his. I did start to wonder if this was the sign of things to come.

Its always the same, having the 'working mans' super car that can do anyone on the road so they have a go at everyone on the road.

This sort of behaviour always staggers me. How bitter and twisted must these people be?!! I pity his wife and kids. They're going to grow up open-minded and considerate aren't they?
