Octavia VRS - The latest twatmobile?

I think it's four exhausts and an M badge that rubs some people up the wrong way. Kind of a scalp to be taken. Add in Imola red and a boot spoiler and I think temptation is irresistible for some to just try it on.

Been driving BMs for years seems to be any of them they like. My two E88s 135 and 120i were a magnet and they were de badged. The 330 is badged and that attracts them. The Z4 seems not to be immune either usually from older men in cars that looks like they've given up on life or the ST mobs etc. to be fair I used to get middle aged blokes trying to have a go when I have then FN2

IF the Octavia vRS is a twatmobile can I say I am the exception having owned one since 2005 :D I do get your point though they are so afforedable now and are sinking into chav driving land  Anway off out for my Z4 fix tomorrow and some dry quiet..ish roads :)

Its interesting how a car can stir up peoples emotions. I picked up my Z4 last saturday and was sat stationary in heavy traffic on the motorway in the middle lane. I had owned the car for less than 1 hour and a guy in an Astra 2008 plate with wife and two kids in the car came past me doing 10 mph in the slow lane giving the w****r sign. I thought it seemed strange as we were doing 10mph max and so I started trying to backtrack as to wether I had cut him up or something else. Came to the conclusion that it must be the car. Traffic starts moving and I pass him and again the w****r sign-again I try to ignore. Third time hes out of the window giving the sign, his wife is looking in the opposite direction, clearly embarrassed. I open the window and ask 'what?' 'what have i done to you?' 'whats your problem?'. His response was that I thought I was something special in my BMW, all BMW drivers are w*****s, my car was s**t, I was a ponce etc etc. I laughed at him, did the window up and the traffic soon cleared and he disappeared into the rear view mirror. The irony is that until 1 hour before my only car was a 2006 Astra, same model as his. I did start to wonder if this was the sign of things to come.

There was a bloke in the Civinfo forum who was quite proud of the fact and boasted that he would tailgate bmws until they pulled over and then would give them the finger and w***er signs because he didn't like BMW drivers. No regard for who was driving the car and if they had any family in the car.

Much to my amazement he joined another forum I was on, a BMW related one when he bought his 123d coupe. Needless to say when I brought up his post and said I could only hope he now had to put up with the same crap he had piled on drivers over the years he never posted again.

I could never figure out why people seem to think they can abuse you and your property and make assumptions without even knowing or speaking to you. Sometimes doing well, liking nice things and having a nicer lifestyle than some seems more hassle than it's worth.

Plenty of plonkers driving BMs as well had a guy in a335d so close to my bumper on the M4 the other day he was nearly up my exhaust this is in heavy traffic at 90mph in the fast lane with nowere to go, and lots of older Beemers have a go to quess it's because they can't afford a decent one. :headbang: :x

never had any trouble in my bmws, 2 z4s and now a e39 5 series.

had some knob in a white van call me a w***er when I forgot to indicate pulling into the local cinemas car park but thats about it ( was already in a 10mph retail park zone and not pulling in from main road)

usually I just had people telling me nice car, especially in the z4 coupe.

some people are just born numpties with no road etiquette whatsoever.

last week i was driving on a dual carriageway where i was on a long, straight stretch. i could see a small hatch about 1/4 mile ahead overtaking a couple of cars. 30secs later, im on his ass and he has only just overtaken one car and is only doing 60mph. no wonder i managed to steam up right behind him as he literally had not sped up to overtake these cars nor had he achieved the speed limit in doing so. no idea what he was doing next as he tapped on his brakes for no reason whatsoever, thought about it for a few seconds and then pulled in. i gave him a closed fist, side to side hand shake on my way past him as that is exactly what he was.

when driving you should always be aware of what is around you and drive at a speed limit appropriate to the road and conditions. driving at 60mph in the outside lane of a dual carriageway on a clear day with no traffic ahead and trying to overtake at that speed is plain stupid and bad road manners. you could say i shouldnt of steamed up behind him...... but i was driving at 70ish and was overtaking safelier than he was

Perhaps you should have been more considerate and moved over.

Yes, you're right. I should have mounted the kerb, or pulled the magic z4 switch that makes like a whacky races cartoon car and shrinks it width ways to let the poor VRS driver past.

How remiss of me...

Or you are a dick.

That's entirely possible. I tend to react that way when I meet another one.

Hey Envy - whilst I can understand your frustration and we've all been there - I'd have thought the dab on the brakes were to slow you up. . . Not everyone want's to drive like us and feels it necessary to overtake 'on a long straight dual carriageway' at the maximum permitted speed. Courtesy goes both ways and I can see how your responses and reactions could be considered impolite and leave some with a poor impression of Zed drivers. . .

Who wants to chip their way out of bed?

Ah well that's where cleaning up afterwards helps prevent such issues.

Talking of zed drivers reputations (I'm far from an angel on the road) but today on the m1 I saw for the first time an m coupe that undertook me at about 100mph  (fyi I was in the middle lane approaching a slower moving car so wasn't middle lane hogging. He came out of nowhere)
really didn't bother me, I think I had a much higher tolerance because of what car it was  but on the reputation scale he would reduce it to audi driver status
