Not really my number - just an example - tried to find this number as a present to my wife ( Audrey ) but not for sale !

Any badge on the side is horrific. I currently have plain uk font plastic ones, but on past cars i've had pressed metal plates in french font.

It was a nice subtle difference and not as obviously illegal as german font.

French or German font should be for French or German cars that are euro styled I think, not sure I like it on the ford (just my personal opinion, although I do like both the ST and the plates, just separately)

Just out of interest, what is the penalty for an illegal plate?

I have a nice short number that I've often thought would look good on the german style plates (with loads of room for the plakettes' or whatever thay are called).

Yeah 60 quid fine I think.

The front plate on my Z4 isn't strictly legal as it has no bs mark or postcode of the manufacturer, but the copper would have to be in a very bad mood to fine you for it.

again, a subtle difference. The original plate overhung the lower centre grille which annoyed me

Regarding badges on plates, I personally don't feel the need to display my vehicles manufacturer as the badges on the car already do that. It's all subjective though. The saying 'As long as you like it' comes to mind.

I've been fined twice. 60quid each time.

Had these on for a while, shortened pressed metals with bike font

Was quite subtle I thought

What were the fines for?

First fine was my own fault, I'd messed with the lettering spaces.
Second time was for my pressed plates, got pulled on the m6. He was adamant that pressed plates were illegal, not reflective(which they are) not allowed to have raised letters, not allowed a border. Etc etc

He never mentioned the fact the lettering was the wrong size on the front though. He was a proper cock, when I rang the police to speak to his superior he came back on the phone saying if I took it to court he would just say they're illegal for not having the postcode a bs number on it. Changing his story basically to f**k me over.

Got pulled a 3rd time but didn't get a fine, just stuck my plastic ones on which now I prefer

I got my front bumper repaired and resprayed this week... The look i am running this week

I stuck it back on for my MOT last oct... Otherwise it spent most of last yr on the dash!

Need to fit a new carbon bmw badge (old one was looking quite shabby) looks weird without that!

I might remove my front plate all together, just leave in boot and say it went loose if i get tugged by the Po-lice
That's what I do! Have been like it for a few months now with no problem  much prefer the clean naked look up front!
I know it should be there :poke: kept in boot just in case!

where do these stick on plates come from..not something i'd want to get wrong with a low quality example.
