Not sure about this ........

you know, ive looked at this picture again this morning and im convinced this picture is probably the least fattering one you could have posted!!

i think if you drive the car alittle, find a nice spot thats level, and take some various angle shots!!

Black wheels and Imola red just doesn't go. Only time it works imho is when the car is looks track purposed if you know what I mean. Found that out to my cost last year when I had another set of Csls refurbed, changed back to silver as soon as I could.

I like the wheels though lowered with spacers would look rather mean.

Will take some other pics when I get home .........
Funnily enough, with the stock wheels, the idea of Lowering never occurred to me, with these ....... hmmmmmmm

and track wheels, I think they are ..........

Its the Imola Red / Black wheel thing Im not sure about. Think they would work on a different colour .......

Right then ..... pretty sure they will be coming off.

Like the black with red, good contrast. The wheels look pretty nice design-wise, but not quite big enough. Not a fan of large rubber sidewalls though, needs to be low profile.

I think with the Black roof they do go, Looks all purposeful to me, but agree with the whole lowered/spacers opinion though! :)

Not convinced that the Red/Black works. I do like black wheels on a black car - looks quite aggressive.

Team how are you finding that et20 in the rear?? Thats super agressive....
How far is it sticking out past the bodywork??

I have decided - I like the black on red, I think it suits it. There's just too much rubber - even tyreshine won't help. Lowering might. Wouldn't put wholly black rims on my car because it may be too black... Bit red with the black soft top works just fine

have to admit none of it was planned ..... I just saw peppermint's ad on here and blagged the wheels straight off ......
They are well nice, just dont think they suit the car.

The tyres are actually straight off the M rims and are stock M size ....

as for the sticky out bit, its about 10 mm - I was expecting them to rub, but they dont ......

Think Im pretty much decided after all the comments - they'll be coming off ................. well you never know till you try.

Sticking out 10mm would be an mot fail anyway.....

Think its the right decision.....

Ive done loads that ive learned a hard lesson from.... These will sell on easily.

Its taken me a while to suss it out ..... but visualy, the black wheels change the shape of the whole car ....
Stock wheels are back on and Im well happy.........

Just one small issue :D did the wheel/tyre swap today and discovered a broken rear coil spring ...... I can now join the club.
Wasn't bad though ...... ramp on to ramp off, swap 2 rear springs ..... 40 mins

Does anyone have any experience with powder coating wheels .............
Rather than take a hit on the "black" numbers Im thinking about putting them in for a colour change ...........

No i dont like them, like the colour but not the style. I think lighter colours look nicer on imola, but black looks good too

Powder coating looks good and is more durable, but the finish won't be as good as factory wheels or painted wheels. I like powder coated wheels 'cos they are less susceptible to getting eaten by brake dust.

From what I have read before, it's crucial the back of the wheel that mates with the hub is NOT powder coated, so remember that if you do get them powder coated

Why? I have had several sets of wheels powder coated over the years and all the backs were coated and had no problems.

Think there was another, meatier thread on the subject on m3cutters, but I've just found this one. Doesn't sound conclusive either way but I'd tape the back up as suggested as a precaution:

Looks like you lost your hubcaps or accumulated years of brake dust. Not one for black wheels as you can tell, like the originals. :|
