NORTH'D CASTLES AND COAST 13th Sept PHOTOS

I'm glad someone managed to grab some photos crossing to Holy Island, great selection of photos, Stuart and of course not forgetting Nickis contribution

Would have been nice to convoy back all 4 of us/though I wrongly said for Nick/swiftly and Rich/mefieccosse to go on when I went in for petrol and I "will catch them up"....then got stuck behind trucks and farm traffic for ages...never managed to catch them up at all after Berwick fuel stop, lol.[/quote]

Sorry Craig, perhaps we should have stopped or driven a little slower and let you catch up  but I thought you would have caught us no problem :driving:

Seemed nearly impossible at times to get overtaking opportunities on those single carriageway parts of the A1, traffic just constantly bunched up behind the trucks and other slow moving traffic!

Again sorry. We were going to leave straight after Warkworth Castle but as the ice cream stop was only an extra 15 minutes we thought we would go to the end. After the ice cream and debrief goodbyes were said but nobody was moving so as time was marching on we decided to head off. Made it onto the Edinburgh bypass before we had to pull over and put the roof up, the rain water was dripping over the side windows.

Was a good day thanks again Paul and Steph. Wise I could of helped out more but wasn't 100% sure on the first part of the route to get on to the eglington, chillingham castle road once we turned off the A1 which we missed But we did a u turn and took the slip road on the other side then having to turn right to head for Alnwick was a nightmare with me being the last car by the time I got out no one was anywhere to be seen until we go into Alnwick it's self there was a lonesome zed by the side of the road tried to wait for us but lost others in front, I decided to head back to A1 and found the left turn to take us to the stable on the round about (original route I believe) then from there turned left and faced Alnwick castle the turned right and found my self heading for chattel and chilling with a little help from my co driver who read his pace notes well and had a cracking hoon leading to chatton and on to chillingham castle which became familier to me.

But I will.... Should know for next time
But Enjoyed the day and all made for good fun and great to catch up with forum friends and some new face.
Thanks again everyone

We did well, last year, keeping everyone together. There was a surprising amount of traffic around the A1 and that caused issues, at that point, when folk got separated. Not to worry, that was the only major issue and we all got to Chillingham in the end. Mike was the only other forumite that had done all the route with us and then sadly he couldn't make the date. Think I may have mini-briefings for awkward sections in future, even though we realised and tried to highlight this part on the route sheets and I added postcodes for each major stopping point on the run just in case folk got completely lost - this did help one or two get back on the route - the rest managed via mobile phone calls to Steph who directed them back.
We knew the Hogs Head stop would be a difficulty but we needed the parking space and a place that could manage that many coffees - not always easy to find for that many :D
Once again, thanks to you and Angus for helping out

.......thanks to local man Ron for leading me and Rich etc down the final stretch to Chillingham Castle, even if the rest of the group we had had with us at the time decided to go another way after the Arches

Not a problem for me.

I reckon we would have beaten them to Chillingham if we hadn't waited like gentlemen!
That road from the Barbican at Alnwick castle is an old favourite of mine from years back.

So did I Rich...as you guys were previously taking it a bit easier than me, lol ....never under estimate the amount of time you can lose when being held up by slow traffic, with no opportunities to overtake :(
Thing was I had had a clear road in front of me before stopping for fuel :headbang:

Oh well, needs is must, haha.

Not to worry craig we had no other choice to take that right turn and to keep the flow of traffic going on that part of the road. It is difficult to keep everyone together. These things happen and it's what makes us laugh and talk about when everything comes together. :driving:
Was still a good day pace was good, crack was brilliant and it's great to be in company of friendly people.

Chezserman.........think you are getting wires crosssed, we are talking about after the meet, heading Back to Scotland, not the meet itself, lol
Weekend/Day was good all the same :driving:

Haha now I see it looks like you wrote the sorry craig.....sentence because is isn't in a speech box
Then with the next line mentioning the A1 my bad sorry for the confusion peeps.
 :P

No problem at all, it was a great day.

Cheers,

Jon.

Was good to meet your mate John as well - with his background and knowledge of E85s I hope he joins the forum as that could be very useful, especially as our Zeds get older and need a bit of fettling. I'm keeping his details handy in case of issues. Nice bloke as well.
