Looks a great day out Paul with castles & some orderly parking
Very lucky to have you organising

As folk have said, it was a long day. We may have been optimistic with our timings as we left out a couple of visits (Etal and Ford) but we did manage to get across to Holy Island and back with literally 10 mins to spare. Hope someone has photos of that :D . The parking outside Chillingham Castle is down to Craig (craig3.2) who managed to get all Zeds fitted on the front drive  I had help from Chezsherman and Toe-side on the day as well they brought up the rear and managed some of the long line of Zeds - thanks both I could only keep an eye on the five or so behind me :(

Great long day. Thanks Paul and Steph, you did a great job. :D
A lot of lovely looking examples of Zs
Sorry for shooting off sharply, we had kitties to feed.
13.5 hours for us today and a total of 445 miles.
Best bit of the day....... ice cream at the end.

Thanks for all the lovely comments - it's worth all the effort to go out with such a great set of people.

Love the photos folks - some brilliant shots - hope you don't mind if I nick a few

I didn't get to take many - it's one of the drawbacks of organising so thanks to everyone that posts them up - much appreciated.

I'll post up what I have asap.

Many thanks to Paul an Steph for organising a great day great roads, scenery and wonderful weather, left home 6.45 am this morn and got home 9.15 tonight, and 454 mls , and with a mini hoon at the end great.really glad we made the trip up ,
We really enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to meet up again,
Just enjoying a well earned pint of Guinness an more than likely another,
Cheers for now Maurice and Andrea

I also just wanted to say thank you very much to Paul and Steph for organising the run today, Jon and I both had a great time and will no doubt see you again at some point soon.

Cheers,

Jon.

My youngest daughter was at the start and had our two Border Terriers with her (she was dog-sitting) - I asked her to take some photos for me at the start and look what I found . . . .

The briefing started on time and we were able to make a prompt start - brilliant - and then. . . . .

I was delighted that the Great North Run didn't impact on our run - even the A1M and the exits were fine - everyone was at the start well before 10am - thanks everyone - that allowed us to make a prompt start and then I had to take everyone opposite our house as I'd forgotten my mobile phone! :( :o (Just after I'd told everyone my number was on the route sheets in case of problems  ) First turn left NOT on the route sheet - what a start. Nevermind we got over that quickly enough and moved on.

We had to get to Alnwick as near to 11am as possible as the Hogs Head Inn had a busy Carvery to manage over lunchtime. We managed to get there a little late but at Alnwick Castle we had to take the opportunity offered by the empty layby - just enough room to get in all the Zeds with a bit of a squeeze. It's a great view of Alnwick castle but most folk were happy taking picture of all the Zeds :o

Even with space and a large carpark it still takes quite a time to park up 17 Zeds - the Hog's Head made for an excellent stop and may be a useful starting point for future runs this far North on the A1. I'm not sure what Steph was laughing at :? (and of course, ahe's delighted I've posted this shot) but she did a great job jumping in and out of our Zed to keep folk on the right route and directing them into the right places - everywhere people drove up they'd find Steph waving them in and pointing out the way. She even went and got the Zed when I was handing out our keep-sakes for this years run (A Northumberland Flag sticker) - turned around and the Zed was there ready for the next part of the run - what a girl! :D

We headed out to Chillingham Castle from our first coffee stop and pretty quickly the group got split at an awkward exit point (with some innovative manoeuvres on the A1 I heard later  ) With the aid of mobile phones and my willing helpers Chezsherman and Toe-side (thanks lads  ) and a few others, I believe, we all met up again and later still, got back on the right road to Chillingham Castle where we had been given permission again to take photos at the front of the Castle (normally a no parking zone). A great location for a photo op. (Thanks Craig3.2 for sorting the parking so we could all get in)

We had been chasing time a little to beat the tide and the break up of the group had put us further back so we had to leave out part of the route close to the National Park and visiting Etal and Ford (perhaps another run some time) and head straight to Holy Island for the safe crossing time. There's always stress and anxiety when organising a run but we were close to the wire with our timings and we arrived at Holy Island at 1.25 when the safe crossing time ended at 1.45 . . . .yes even more to worry about  But we made it and managed a few minutes in the car park on the Island before heading back. Hope someone has pictures of this part of the trip.

The fantastic views (and toilets) of the Barn at Beal overlooking Holy Island set us back even more and so we headed to the sensational Bamburgh a lot later than hoped for but we still had to take the 'Wyndings' along the coast to the golf club to return for the best coastal view of all - well worth the time. (Already seen a photo or two of that view in earlier posts - thanks folks  )

From there we headed straight to a very late lunch (2.30pm) at Seahouses where we found the parking chocablock! We all found a space eventually and had a lovely al-fresco lunch on the seats overlooking the harbour except for Nick and Lorraine - (I didn't see you otherwise we would have joined you in the café! (Apologies :( )

We were so lucky with the weather again this year - terrific. Here we are all assembling before heading for the last part of the run - to Warkworth Castle and then our final Ice Cream stop. There's Chezsherman at the back again (thanks for doing that Craig - good shepherding again this year! )

Morwick Farm Dairy is a great place for an ice cream and brought our run to a close with some heading home north and south on the A1 and 5 of us heading back on country lanes to the start - a terrific run back to end the day.

As has been said already, a brilliant day with wonderful people in a beautiful county in sensational cars - thanks to all for making the effort and taking part - we had a great day as well :D :driving:

Yeah, you sneaked off without saying goodbye, lol.

Would have been nice to convoy back all 4 of us/though I wrongly said for Nick/swiftly and Rich/mefieccosse to go on when I went in for petrol and I "will catch them up"....then got stuck behind trucks and farm traffic for ages...never managed to catch them up at all after Berwick fuel stop, lol.

Was good to see everyone again, as well as some new faces.
Was a good weekend, and enjoyed catching up with John/Sammy z(&Pauline) for dinner and drinks on Saturday night....that b n b owner is a Legend :D
Also a good days driving, if a little start-stop at times, with cyclists etc out in force, but we had some sunshine and roofs down again so all good :driving:

Cheers for the organising, and glad to help try to get everyones cars in the photos at Chillingham, as well as tail-gunner for a while.
.......thanks to local man Ron for leading me and Rich etc down the final stretch to Chillingham Castle, even if the rest of the group we had had with us at the time decided to go another way after the Arches

Just another highlight for me...who saw the white Nissan GTR on the Alnwick bypass?
He floored it going down the slip road but the expression on his face as five Zeds sped past him at ( ahem what speed was it Officer?) was priceless. Serious grunt those GTR's.

Brilliant Nicky (and/or Stuart) - some great photos (lovely to see the Castle shots) and some of our Holy Island coastal dash - magic

Serious miles put in by some of the people taking part - terrific and always leaves me impressed - thanks for making that effort and travelling to join us.

Great to see the Holy Island shots Stuart - thanks for posting

Love the panoramic shots and the rear view, on the front drive at Chillingham - nice one Nicki
