North Wales Run Sunday 11th April

Great vid Mr Pawn! You get a real sense of how quiet the roads were, we seemed to be getting on a bit as well-don't remember driving that fast but as I was at the front I must have been :) Makes me want to do it again instead of going into work.

As you say, nobody dicked about, TBH I wouldn't have attempted a meet of that size if I thought we had any dickheads present.

Looks like you guys had fun. And the pictures are awesome! Very jealous that i cant attend something similar here...

PawnSacrifice, that video is from the Playsport right? Picks up a lot of wind noise! I'm thinking of the Zi8 which has an external mic socket.

Yep... I would have liked an external mic socket, I would have taped it to the back bumper next to the exhaust :) Don't forget this is in a convertible up to 60MPH. It's more for surfing and snowboarding - needed something that can spend time in the sea (I'm not very good at all!) or take a battering on the piste or in powder.

Here's how I mounted it - bulldog clip with a mount on top - quite a few places you can clip it on.

Need to tape the door shut... although I want to try and make something to get around that.

Great roads. Even later when there was some traffic and we slowed, it was just a great place to be.

For anyone wondering how far to travel for these meets, it was around 200 miles for me and worth every one  And Flatout drove even further... and back, in the same day.

I have been pulled for the plate in the past, but a lot of the time I think they have better things to do/can't be arsed.

Only time I tend to get stopped for it is when I'm driving home late at night and I pass/see a police car when there's nothing else around, and clearly they have nothing else to do. It does cause a few, "oh great - here we go" moments, but i just put up with it, since it looks so pretty without it :P

So far never had anything more than a telling off....

Yeah, I think we can organise another drive, maybe take in the LLanberis Pass and some of the coast around Colwyn Bay, a couple of good roads out that way as well!

Well, I've got some routes from my last Wales trip (one route per day) that I can host somewhere if anyone wants to go back. :driving:

I must warn you though that my runs tend to be over 200 miles per day and don't involve a stop unless someone in the group is being a girl and has a weak bladder :P

I also tend to limit my tours to 5 cars, for a couple of reasons (1) less likely to get lost :? and (2) less 'noticeable' from the traffic helicopter/plane

I think one of the most fun ones (once you get to the start of the route of course) is the A483 from Newtown to near Llandrindod Wells, then the A44 across to Rhayader & through the Elan Valley to Devil's Bridge & Falls on the B4574/B4343, etc. Anyway it's probably easier to show you.

Tony if you're limiting the run to 5 cars then you may have to organise five groups! :)

If we were to add on the run from Queensferry via the route on Sunday to Bala then that would be an epic drive  Also. any coming from the Midlands/South could meet up on route at Newtown.

We'll give it a couple of weeks then see who's interested.

Great stuff, another run out  pop me down, after the last run Both the Mrs and myself would love to
another blast!

I'm sure Woots would love to get the "Blue Flash" on the roads again.

5 groups is fine, as long as they all have a leader & sweeper with directions to follow.

Our 200 mile Saturday/Sunday route (similar to the one in the link, but we started & ended at our base in Welshpool) took us 7 hours including comfort breaks as required and a diversion to Aberystwyth (one of our group thought he'd better get his better half a gift) and afternoon tea in Dolgellau.

If we'd left when I'd intended at 9am then we'd have been back in the daylight (mid March when we went) as I'd driven it alone and done it in 5 hours on a Sunday. But it didn't really affect us much as we were just going back to the hotel in the evenings anyway.

We also added on the Horseshoe Pass at the request of one of the party, but it was slightly less busy than this weekend's tour.

The linked route is very similar to what we did on Sunday as we modified our Saturday route as some of the group missed out or wanted to re-run some of the roads from the Friday route.

I'm dying to see these pics off russ's stick, they must be good if its taking this long!

Think my mate took a few vids and pics of us driving around etc have to get them off him one night and post them up. We didn't get the camera out much due to it being pink  damn sisters why cant they just have normal colours...

sterling grey 54 plate roadster with 108's. Hope that helps
I tried to get around to saying Hi to most people - sorry if I missed you out! Do you run a private plate on your roadster? If so then I think I parked near you at the first lake stop - I'll say Hi properly next time

Just picked one of those up myself for the same reasons - unfortunately didn't arrive in time for the run though :(

There's another thread on here re: Cameras at the moment, I'll add some test footage too it once I've had a chance to take some! :)

That could have been me - I was GriffithSkyle's car-twin with the other sterling grey roadster with the plate S1FTA :)

I've a feeling there were 3 sterling grey roadsters actually - with all the shiny shiny to look at I think I went a bit snow blind :)

I think next time I'm just going to say "Hi, I'm Siftah/John Baxendale - what's your nick on the forum?", I don't think anybody would mind and in retrospect it'll make life easier! :)

(I was the blonde haired bloke with the unkempt hair, creased jeans and ché guevara t-shirt. Unshaven and probably smelling of booze.)
