North Wales Run Sunday 10th April

Put me down for a maybe too;

I have a birthday party in Leicester on the 9th, so depends on the start time of this!!

Kiowan, depends on which road, I've scoped both from Bala over the passes and they are remote and narrow but great fun to drive - unless we meet the MX5 owners club coming the other way :o

Discovered a great road from Bala that runs out past Vernwy turn and down into a valley before rejoining the main road 12 miles on. It's wide and twisty and very quiet :driving: Well it won't be when we're on it!

Hope you can join us.

sammyz, the road I mean goes from the north west corner of Vyrnwy directly to Bala, it's very narrow and goes up through some woods before opening up and down the side of a valley with some black and white striped crash barriers, great views in the Vyrnwy -> Bala direction, not as good the other way. The other road is the B4391 through Pencraig which is the one you mean I think, goes right over the top of the moorland and is a 2 lane road, that's more appropriate for driving quickly, the other isn't.

Yep, the first road is the Hirnant Pass road, narrow but some great views, we'll be going over that one

I'm tempted to come up from London for this if I can tie it in with some work in Manchester the night before. What kind of start/finish time guys?

Nickm, we'll be meeting at the Starbucks in Queensferry about 10.00am for a 10 30 start. Some came up from 'down south' last year and stayed nearby. Hope you can make it.

Perfect. Booked hotel in Chester for the night before. At the new Abode Hotel by the racecourse. Anyone stayed there?

This was great last year esp driving the evo triangle. Although things did get very busy later so not sure if a 10am start works best IMHO... :)

with people travelling across from Yorkshire and further it's not practical to start any earlier. Different route this time on some quieter roads as well as the Evo triangle.

Shame looks like this clashes with the south run... :(

Don't suppose these any luck in switching dates at this late stage either.... :driving:

Seems the Southern run has chosen the same date. I tried to avoid a clash but TBH there's a lot of dates already taken early in the Spring. Still, at least there will be plenty of choice this year.

I am still debating, more than likely I will come up, but the Hampshire runs are more about speed and great roads, but North Wales is more about beautiful surroundings and welsh people! :driving:

I would have chosen this run if it wasn't so far away. Hands down this route is more special than the Hampshire one IMO

Also have a Bedford trackday the next day so that decided it

Bah im moving house on this weekend. I will see if my other half can manage the move on her own.........

Nick, having been on one of North Wales runs last year and doing the Evo Triangle I can assure you that the Welsh run is also very much about speed... :driving: :D

Speed!
Well we try to keep to the speed limits which are usually 60 MPH on twisty 'B' roads so it certainly won't be dull. We'll be stopping on the Evo triangle to allow people to 'do' it at their own pace.

What we need is some good weather for the day :driving:

Might just be up for this. What time do you meet up? And anyone from the Crewe area fancy a convoy :driving: up to the start?
